==Overview:==
The first Assault Battle Armour received an upgrade in the late
3120s follow several abortive attempts at bringing the Kanazuchi
to modern specs. The medium laser the original was armed with
proved both too useful and too limiting; battlefield tactics had
evolved to counter the Kanazuchi and yet it was still a formidable
and consistent threat. The so-called Kanazuchi II is little more
than a consolidation of all the incremental updates of the last
few decades.

==Capabilities:==
The original frame suffered from numerous inconsistent quality
concerns. By the time of the Jihad, the Kanazuchi's material
tolerances were quite high and gave it the reputation for
ruggedness over and above its ability to withstand a gauss slug.
It can still do so, even with the use of new reflective armour
composites. The medium laser is gone, in exchange for
shorter-ranged but more varied weapons. Each arm is modular,
allowing field techs to modify the suit's payload depending on the
circumstances.

Most, however, keep it unmodified unless there's a pressing need
for a change. The greatest change is the addition of an integrated
TAG unit that allows the Kanazuchi IIs to call in artillery
strikes when its lesser brethren have to flee.

==Deployment==
The Kanazuchi II is not replacing the original Kanazuchi in
frontline DCMS commands. Initially, they were distributed to
various militia along with specialized trainers. Labelled as 'home
defense missions', programs like these allowed the Combine to
train militia in the use of battle armour far away from the limits
imposed in military academies. When the Blackout fell on the Inner
Sphere, these well-trained militia troopers, serving for close to
20 years in many cases, were called to action. Some had already
been rotated to frontline duties before.

This surge of able battle armour troopers caught the AFFS unaware.
The Kanazuchi II served as a solid combatant, able to frustrate
attempts by the Draconis March Militia to use specialized units to
hunt down and remove them from play. On Palmyra, the fight to take
the capital city of Salwe was secured by a ring of Kanazuchi IIs
that encircled the southern district. The Fifth Ceti Hussars tried
to break contact with the encroaching DCMS but consistently ran
into heavy battle armour numbers that prevented its elements from
breaking out in a cohesive fashion. Though the campaign would
continue for months after the city fell, the Kanazuchi IIs
remained resolute conquerers and then defenders.

On Robinson, the Kanazuch IIs played a greater role. In quite
possibly the largest display of mechanized battle armour tactics
in recent history, the Kanazuchi IIs were deployed in Hiyro WiGEs
and various other highly-mobile platforms. Duke Corwin Sandoval's
staff were thoroughly convinced that there were 3 to 5 times more
battle armour in certain areas, redirecting valuable assets that
ultimately left him exposed. Those units rushed to dispatch the
battle armour 'regiments' fell to guided Arrow IV fire; the
survivors dying to the Kanazuchi II's guns.
