BI Initiative Bonus

The BI Initiative Bonuses are assigned to units.  Does that mean only that unit gains the bonus, or does the bonus apply to the entire force containing that unit?  The wording in the rules suggest the unit gets it, however the example given suggests the entire force gets it?

There’s only one initiative roll per side.  There is no “unit initiative”.  The bonus is assigned to a unit because of the unit is destroyed, the bonus is lost.
