Hitting High Altitude Drops
« on: 30 March 2018, 11:56:59 »
I have a question on the high altitude drop rules.

The Errata for AS on p.90 states "The dropping units automatically fail all Control Rolls while on the Radar Map."

So does this mean that they just simply fall in a zone if hit? Such as if they are in the inner ring and get hit, they fail the control roll and fall in a zone to the central. Then on the start of the next movement they can just land on the central zone ground map?

The reason I ask is it seems like hitting units in the radar map helps move them quicker to the battlefield. They are taking damage for it but I just wanna make sure this is how it is intended to happen.

Basically, that's the erratum to answer how you figure out what range dogfighting aero units achieve when trying to shoot up dropped troops as they fall down to the Central Zone.

So in play they're gonna drop a zone per turn anyway whether you're shooting at them or not.  But when you're lining up to dogfight to determine engagement ranges, they ALSO auto-fail those rolls, too.
