Well the Bears have been a dumpster fire for a long time now, rivaling the Browns and the Lions, so look no further.

For most Bears fans, we've been disappointed and let down by the team for so long, that we've been cautious anytime there's some supposed good news. It's like Pavlov's dogs, we've been conditioned to accept defeat and disaster to the point where its now ingrained.   xp

The Bears - Panthers trade was awesome for the Bears.  Now will they pick wisely with all those draft picks?  Stay tuned.   >:D

I'm not sure one can be a Marik fan and NOT be a fan of chaos. If you're looking for an orderly faction that doesn't define itself by regularly nut-punching itself into oblivion as a hobby, go play Davion. Leave the gibbering lunacy to the purple-clad professionals.  ^-^

As for this trade... the thing with a trade this big, for this many draft picks, is that we're going to be waiting AGES to find out if it really paid off. Will the Bears make good use of those picks? Dunno- past precedent says they're not so great at it. Remember though that at the time, the famed Herschel Walker trade was seen as an absolute bust for Dallas, a near-cataclysmic blunder. Spoiler: It panned out juuuuust fine for the Cowboys, and was not so great for the Vikings. It just took a while to realize it.

If we look back in on this trade in a few years, Carolina's new QB is doing well and the Bears are a shambling wreck, then yeah, we have our answer. If the Bears go on a tear thanks to the influx of young talent, that'll tell us our answer. For now... all we can do is go on whether the return- on paper- is worth it, and as a simple numbers game of 'did you get a lot of picks for the one you gave up', the Bears did very well here.

I won't lie, I'm torn on this. I mean, there's no question that he's the most influential person involved with the team over my lifetime, on and off the field, but... man, outside of bringing in Manning, his time as exec was pretty mixed at-best. Some of those moves- Paxton Lynch, for example- are duds of the highest order.

Thanks for everything, John, most of all for not being back. I know that sounds mean, but it's time for fresh eyes in Denver.

If Snyder weren't this close to selling the team, then trading them would be a good plan.

one first and a fifth round pick seems like a decent price. almost seems un-jetsy to avoid pulling a mini walker to the vikings kind of stunt.

eh. you have to judge value when you make a purchase. first and a fifth is cheap.

will it make the jets contenders? it's the jets, so no  ;D

oh, it's even cheaper than i thought

Packers get: Jets' first round (#13), second round (#42), sixth round (#207), and a conditional second round pick next year if Rogers plays at least 65% of offensive snaps.

Jets get: Rogers, Packer's first round (#15), fifth round (#170)

basically the packers are playing gashapon with the 13th pick to see if they get something that can replace rogers.

Just gonna leave this explanation here for those thinking this was a win for the Jets. It may turn out to be, but at a glance they've taken a HUGE gamble.

that's a spicy hot take. i don't really agree with the alarmist pterodactyl noises the writer is making, but neither the jets nor aaron rogers deserves that much of my time to pick through

The Jets took a risk, but since it's been 20 years since they won a division title, they've got nothing to lose.

As a Bears fan, I'm just happy Rodgers is gone from the NFC North (though I blame Chicago's owners for always losing to him more than to Aaron himself).

It's official. Rodgers to the Jets.

My condolences to Jets fans.

Honestly, I'd be less concerned on if he CAN play (he can) and more concerned if he WILL be willing to do the work.  It's his erratic behavior and lack of commitment that I'd be concerned about.  Of course I only had to wait about 25-30 years for the Chiefs to draft a franchise QB rather than limp along with retreads.  Ok so one of those retreads was Joe Montana but still.
