Well, I'm glad to see you back.

I thought it was just normal Mad Scientist Doctor stuff keeping you away or something like that.

In other news, I just took a new job as a Network Engineer for Frontier Communications, so as of 28 SEPT 2020, I will officially be working in the same State that I live in for the first time since 2005. Hello 30 minute commute, how I've missed you.

I started a new job three weeks ago, and now I have a half-hour commute. I miss my zero minute commute when I was self-employed at home, and the two minute commute when I was still gainfully employed before that.

Got to admit, the WfH option during COVID has been nice, especially as an introvert, but the down side is I'm here with the rest of my family 24/7 now. We've survived, but mainly because my wife runs all the errands for her Mom and I usually get a day or so per week to myself.

Speaking of job changes, I’m applying for an editing/proofreading position at a publication that’s halfway across the country from me. Pretty sure I’d start working from home, as I understand their base city still hasn’t allowed such offices to reopen, but would probably see me eventually moving out to the coast. But it’s still early stages of application now, I don’t have the job yet. Prayers and/or wishes for luck are appreciated. It would be a big improvement from my current situation.

That sounds like the sort of job tailor-made for circumstances such as the present time. There shouldn't be a need to go to an actual office building to complete that sort of work, not in this time of digital publishing and document creation.

You'd think, but some of us have low quality connections at home, and in some cases, like for private document handling, there's a need to be at an office.

Work from home has been blissful for my office job but murder for my retail work.

Covid and its economic disturbances seem to have made people crazier than usual in store. Right now I am recovering from some facial injuries due to a shoplifter wanting some privacy for their theiving. We have not had a customer assault before. The workmans comp clinic indicated that they are treating far more assault injuries than usual so I guess we are not the only store dealing with it.

Well I guess this is me checking in.

Oh and Loyalist, been there done that. Caught myself a mild
concusion from one once. Pulled me and the boss down a
long flight of stairs trying to get away. I came to, and rugby
tackled him before he got onto the shop floor.....happy days :p

I actually had a short term gig myself lately. All the fun of
teaching newcomers to Finland, about their rights and the
wonders of life here. But in their native language, English.
A task I'm rather well suited to, I'm hopeful there'll be more.
