(Answered) Dropship Firing Arcs and Artillery
« on: 15 August 2019, 17:25:06 »
I'm not sure if this has been asked before or perhaps changed from AT2 to Total Warfare, but per page 250 of Total Warfare, grounded Spheroid Dropships may only make Air to Ground attacks from the Nose arc. However, the Fortress, Polaris and Trutzburg dropships all carry some form of artillery in the nose. Checking Tactical Operations, neither the specific weapon information blocks nor the general artillery rules actually say that this rule is ignored while firing Artillery. So what do I do if I use one of these units on the table?

TW, p. 249.  Firing Arcs, Nose-Mounted Weapons:
After "Nose-mounted weapons can only target airborne aerospace units (see Firing Weapons below)."
Add
"Indirect Fire (see p. 111) nose-mounted weapons may ignore this restriction in order to target ground units or hexes in any firing arc."

And TO...

Add a new paragraph on p. 181 after Airborne attacks about "Grounded DropShips" that repeats the firing arc rules from TW for artillery.
