I am not 100% behind how tall the missile rack is, but that can be fixed by a quick substitution.

Its the wideness of the arms and the missile rack that throws me off this one despite loving the design. maybe if the shoulders were cut down a bit to sit closer to the body and if the missile rack was mounted at a slight angle like in the art... :P

As of last Saturday it hadn't been made into a production mold yet. Got to hang with Gordon for a bit and see the masters for it.

Also are you sure it was flash and not just venting?

the art is actually pretty decieving because of the angle the thunderbolt was on, but the missile box WAS dead center in the TRO.

I agree. All the parts look about right, but some fine tuning in the shoulder joints would help out.
Overall, a pretty faithful rendering of really great art.

Si.  Wasn't much to the flash, though.  There were mold lines and some thicker spots from the sprue connections, but nothing I couldn't fix with my hobby knife.
Anyway, it came my way the 30th, so I suppose that answers the question, but if the production version comes out like this one, I don't think we'll hear many complaints in the required-prep department.

When I get a second one to work with, I'm going to remove the shoulder joint sections on the torso to get the arms closer (and shift the legs in a smidge to ease any space issues), cut down the length of the "wings" a bit, remove some shoulder underneath where they slip on so they can go further inward, and remove most of that notch of metal on top of the missile launcher.

How hard would it be to mod one of these into the IIC 2 variant?

It's going to depend on weapon location.
Where's the record sheet for that one?  I don't see it in the Record Sheets: Prototypes PDF.

Well, if the large lasers are in each arm, and the mediums in the left torso, it shouldn't be too hard to mod.  You'll have to fill in the hole where the streak launcher attaches, add the small laser to the arm, and if you so desire, add something to represent the jump jets.
If either large laser is somewhere besides an arm, you're out of luck.  The forearms are seriously solid pieces of metal, and getting arms from another 'Mech means having to modify the "wings" so they'll still fit.

The more i look at it the more i think the shoulder baffles and the LRM are too big and the LRM just looks out of place. Don't get me wrong, i will buy a few and paint them in Donegal and Lyran Guard colors but for me it's just not close enough to the artwork.

Hmmm, the ERLPL is in the right arm, but the heavy is in the left torso. There is a SPL in the left arm, but I don't think that'll cut it.

Epitaph on an Army of Mercenaries

These, in the day when heaven was falling,      Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
The hour when earth's foundations fled,         They stood, and earth's foundations stay;
Followed their mercenary calling,               What God abandoned, these defended,
And took their wages, and are dead.             And saved the sum of things for pay.

On IWM's front page (for the Store itself I mean), they're listed as being available 5/21/2012.  Sadly, they only have a picture of the T IIC.  :-\

For those wondering, it lists the following for the BF Scale IS Lance Pack 2 ($16.95):
Warhammer
Panther
Atlas
Dervish

Then these for the BF Scale Clan Star Pack 2 ($20.95):
Masakaris (Seems like a typo to me, but that's how its listed on the site! They need to drop the last "s", don't they?  ???)
Black Hawk

On IWM's front page (for the Store itself I mean), they're listed as being available 5/21/2012.  Sadly, they only have a picture of the T IIC.  :-\

For those wondering, it lists the following for the BF Scale IS Lance Pack 2 ($16.95):
Warhammer
Panther
Atlas
Dervish

Then these for the BF Scale Clan Star Pack 2 ($20.95):
Masakaris (Seems like a typo to me, but that's how its listed on the site! They need to drop the last "s", don't they?  ???)
Black Hawk
Ryoken
Nova Cat
Fenris

Other Prices:

Grasshopper GHR-7P - $13.95
Barghest BGS-RT - $13.95

The date listed on the web store is estimated date they will be for sale on IWM site. I will have pictures up by next week, I just need to assemble the battleforce packs.

Great news on the BF packs, but I'm not so crazy about that whole "Estimated Date" business.  :(  I want some T IIC's and Barghests dadgumit!  Enough teasing already!  :D

Has there been any word on the Thud-IIC's release? The release schedule still says April 9th...

I got word that my pre-Order Thunderbolt II-C shipped today. (From a retailer, not direct from IWM)
I can't wait to get my grubby mitts on it.  :D

Ok Alliance has them.  I used to be a retailer and I still get the inventory emails.  So believe me or not that FSGS have them or not.

Finally picked up one of these, and I love it! Very good detail, not much in the way of mold lines, and the parts allow for different poses without being overly complex. I'll give this mini an eight out of ten, as my only beef is the missile rack. The tubes are poorly aligned and poorly spaced, to the point that I'll be chucking it into my bits box, and digging up a TDR-9M's missile rack to use instead.

Y'know, I really need to pick up more of those -9M racks. They're practically my default go-to for large batches of missile tubes.

Mine arrived in the mail on Tuesday. Now that I've looked it over, I am very happy with the sculpting details, but I still think it might help to file down the shoulder joints to bring the arms in a little closer to the torso.

I haven'd decided on the missile rack yet. Swapping in a project Phoenix T-Bold missile rack is a possibility, but I might also just build it as-is.

I am not 100% behind how tall the missile rack is, but that can be fixed by a quick substitution.

I wonder how it would look if you just turned that missile rack on its side…

You ever see The Fifth Element? Turning it sideways is like taking their ancient symbol for air, and subsituting their ancient symbol for water.

I turned mine in it's side and it looked much better. I also had to trim that weird chunk off the edge.

It's true! You either get vertical wavy missile alignment, or horizontal wavy missile alignment.

(For the record, the rest of the mini is still very nice.)

In most missile packs, the missiles are aligned in a simple grid, so you get straight columns and rows out fo the missile holes. On the T-Bolt IIC, the rows are...okay...but the columns are distinctly and dramatically curved.

In Fifth Element, the symbol for air was a series of four vertical wavy lines, parallel to each other. The symbol for water was the exact same wavy lines, turned 90 degrees. The Thunderbolt's missle rack gave me the same impression.
