Title: Arion Pic
Post by: Sartris on 16 June 2017, 13:21:34
Finally got around to putting the pair of Arions I bought a few months ago. It was a lot of parts, but fun to put together. I really liked how the mini turned out and look forward to the other quadvees

Looks great!! O0

How well do the hips go together?
(Those ball-and-socket joints always give me trouble.)

that's actually an optical illusion. the "upper leg" fits into the torso with a simple tab like a normal torso/hip setup.

Ah okay. Cool. Might actually be able to put it together then. ;D

I'm glad you like them!  Sorry about the part count, but I wanted to be able to include both configs in the blister and that was the best way of doing it.  If I were to do it over, I probably would make two different blisters, but, no matter what, i think it turned out great.  Realize this is like my 2nd model ever done for IWM, so it definitely was a challenge :)

The large part count usually doesn't bother me unless there a bunch of tiny pieces that invariably get glued to my fat fingers  ;D

It seems that IWM did something to their pewter or the molding process about five years ago that allows the parts and the glue to bond much more quickly and cleanly. I remember the Phoenix mechs and older chicken walkers like the Uziel and original sculpt chimera were often frustrating. Pretty much everything I've purchased lately assembles very cleanly.
