Im not going to post the Wolverine Battle... Yeah, it went like that. I had some really bad luck but otherwise the Wolverine tore me apart. Interestingly it wasnt so much the weapons fire as the Wolverine kicking my legs out then curbstomping me until I died.

what was the saying? "Flawless Victory!" ... maybe in that case it was "Finish Him!"

The Shadow Hawk should be avoiding kicks at all cost against the Wolverine, even if it means giving up attacks of your own.  You just don't have the damage output to win that race if the Wolverine can reliably concentrate damage to one or two locations.

Kansas City players, or people who are just passing through the area, come join us at the Geekery just off Shawnee Mission Parkway for BattleTech!  Current days are Tuesdays in the afternoon and evening.  I can't make every single week, but odds are pretty good that somebody will be there.

I tried, but its a choice of either running and taking shots to the back whilst not opening the range, or shooting and letting it get closer. I will try again but that was not a nice fight.

Generally isnt with those two mechs.  I love Shads, its a signature mech of one of my units.   The Wolvie a signature mech of another.   But the 2H needs to put holes in that wolvie before it gets to melee.  I will run a Shad 7 of 10 choices and still lose 4 in 5 when knife fighting a wolvie.

I'm not a huge fan of the Shadowhawk apart from the Heavy Peep C3 one but after seeing the 8L in action it's a really nasty backstabber.

Neither one is the SHD-2H.

I think fight in a fire may be the best answer you will get.  You can create one in most places- places you cannot are not bad for you to fight either, breaches are your friend- which will give the two hotter running designs more problems.  It does give you a bigger advantage against the Griffin, but can work against the Wolverine too.

I'm not sure about the Griffin being at more of a disadvantage under water.  Instead of Medium Laser vs. Medium Laser (and physical attacks), you have PPC vs. Medium Laser (which means no physical attacks with equal movement rates)...

The Griffin's range advantage underwater is really dangerous given the reduced movement issue.

If torpedoes were a specialty ammunition instead of a completely different weapon the Shadow Hawk might at least have a chance under water against a Griffin.  Since they aren't, yeah I don't see it going well for the Shadow Hawk unless it was a very small pool of water.

Wolverine has a slight advantage as well with it's medium laser being in the head versus the Shadow Hawk's being in the arm.

With the same movement rate, it stays Medium Laser vs. Medium Laser.

The difference is the Medium Laser of the Shadow Hawk is more exposed and thus more likely to be knocked out by a breach check and that'd quickly cascade into the Wolverine's favor.

What keeps it only a slight advantage is as you point out they have to be in range of each other and all it takes is one breach check to the center torso to end the fight.

I like the heat approach. Would it be worth it to load Infernos into the SRMs, or do you think it would cost you too much badly needed raw damage?

Depends on the opponent.

Its a good ploy v/s the Griffin.

Against the Wolverine, I'd still want standard SRM'.

But I might try using the ML while it's still at range to start those fires till I can use it on the Wolverine.
