Jamil Bruning or Jamil Ahmad
« on: 13 December 2022, 20:03:12 »
FedCom Civil War pp. 25-26 kills off troublesome officer Jamil Bruning. Only problem is, he doesn't exist.

Brian Bruning was the Clovis DMM commander for a while (Objective Raids p. 13, Shattered Sphere p. 27) until someone killed him around June 3062 (Field Manual: Federated Suns p. 121 "just six months ago" and the book has an in-universe date of 12/06/62). He's replaced by Jamil Ahmad who starts rooting out corruption and has received 11 anonymous death threats.

"Jamil Bruning" was focused on rooting out corruption and had been receiving death threats "for the past year" before finally being killed on 10/19/62.

Other than minor issues in timing like Jamil being killed before FM:FS was written and death threats over a year vs six months it seems to me FedCom Civil War just got the name wrong. Is this the case?
"Assassinating" the Clan commander's goldfish is hardly the stuff of legend.
