(Answered) Shielding: can units move backward
« on: 25 May 2019, 16:56:59 »
Tactical Operations states that shielding units can only expend walking/cruising MP, but suffer the attacker movement modifier for running/flanking (p. 19).

Does this mean a unit can move backwards because it expends only walking/cruising MP?

Or is the shielding movement mode considered as running/flanking as a whole, which would forbid backwards movement?

Errata:

* Shielding (Movement Mode) (p. 19)
Second paragraph, first sentence

A shielding unit may only expend its current Walking/Cruising MP, but it is considered to have run/flanked for purposes of the attacker movement modifier during the turn in which it is shielding (it can make all standard weapon and physical attacks during that turn).
Change to:
A shielding unit may only expend Walking/Cruising MP. A shielding unit that attacks during the turn that it is shielding suffers an additional +1 attacker movement modifier.

This should make it so that there's no confusion between walking and running.  Thanks for pointing this out.
