This is a weird question, but you're by and large weird people, so this struck me as an appropriate place to ask: what was the Roman Army's stance on facial hair? In the modern context, we think of military men as clean-shaven, but we also know that wasn't always the case (heck, I've sometimes wondered if possessing facial hair wasn't a practically requirement for promotion to the General Officer ranks in the American Civil War). So, do we know if there were Centurions running about with full beards, goatees, and whatnot, or is that one of history's great mysteries?
