Does explosion-induced auto-eject happen before, after, or somehow in parallel with explosion damage? There seems to be a conflict in the BM.
Battletech Manual: Ejection, p 81:
"Auto-Ejection: If an ammunition explosion occurs a MechWarrior will automatically eject, even if unconscious, unless the auto-eject system is disabled. This occurs before damage to the Mech is resolved (though the pilot still takes the usual 2 points of damage due to ammo explosion feedback)."
However, under Crits: Ammunition: p 47:
"Because an ammunition explosion damages the internal structure of the location where it explodes, a roll to determine critical hits is necessary; i.e. an ammo explosion could cause another ammo explosion, inflicting 4 points of damage on the MechWarrior."
If p. 81 is correct then 47 appears incorrect -- the pilot would be ejected before the second explosion could be triggered because they would be ejected before the damage from the first explosion is applied and induces a critical hit chance.
Unless, perhaps, the ejection and the explosion damage happen in parallel, in which case my question concerns the timing of ejection and location destruction effects, e.g. Given a 3+ point ammo explosion in a mech's head, does the pilot die or are they ejected (with two wounds)?
Thanks!
