Special Archive Return
« on: 21 February 2011, 19:02:45 »
As part of the update to the shopping cart and the adjustments to the Battletech Archive folder to allow purchase of more then one copy online. We have decided that at the end of each month, a poll will be set up to vote on five different Archive products. The top two at the end of the poll will be available on the website as Online Exclusives for purchase without the Archive fee. So this poll will expire around the end of February 2011 and the top two Archive Products will return for sale without the Archive fee for March 2011. The special will end when the next poll expires and I switch over to the next poll winners. The next poll will be up in the last two weeks of March 2011.

I'd be willing to buy more Kingfishers if they were re-sculpted to look more like the art.

Thanks for doing something nice like this with a result determined by the fans (i.e.: paying customers). Sorry that it's another opportunity for some  to bitch about scuplts. There's not nearly enough bitching about sculpts.  [soapbox]

Jayhawk, there is a difference between giving feedback and "bitching", like what you just did.  If you had been paying attention for the past few years, I have been very supportive of IWM, going as far as to fund several sculpts.

Look, I said something because you guys are wearing me out with all the off-topic crying about re-sculpts. You picked the wrong time and place to be so "supportive" of IWM. A positive announcement from IWM about something a little new and different was followed immediately by your post complaining about a sculpt. Wrong time and place, and if that's not "bitching", what is? Beat it to death in another thread already.

well then leave. if you're so sick of it ignore it or go away, because there will always be differences of opinions on sculpts, and you know what, there's nothing wrong with that.

Plus Jim wasn't even bitching, you are. He was just saying what is basically unanimously accepted about the Kingfisher anyways, it needs to look more like the art.

There is nothing wrong with what jim said..........there are sculpts that i won't buy because they are odd looking, they don't match the art..........

Another thought....why the heck are the Marauder minis 10+ pieces?......please, for the love of pete, fix this, i won't buy one for that reason........and i really like the Marauder minis

That Marauder was the original reseen put out. Try the Marauder 9S/5R miniature, http://www.ironwindmetals.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=2657 , the legs are each one piece, much better then the first reseen version.

As the topic clearly says, these are RETURNS...not resculpts. Personally, I voted for the Black Lanner because it looks the least goofy of this group. If we were talking about resculpts, that would be a different story. I like the Rakshasa, and it really, really needs a resculpt. Still, that's not the point of this thread, so keep that in mind when voting.

I voted for the Lanner as well.  I am always happier to see one of the on the field instead of ANOTHER Stormcrow.

Kingfisher, meh.  I have one, and never use it.
Paladin?  Does nothing for me.
Regulator?  I already have 4, and assume we will get the Regulator II at some point in the near future.
Rakshasa falls into the same category as the Kingfisher.

Kingfisher, meh.  I have one, and never use it.

I use mine all the time.  A relatively low BV combined with very high durability makes it very cost effective to field.

I usually just don't have many Clan assaults on the field, period.

I went with the Regulator.  While three of the four 'Mechs are generally good in games, their models leave a lot to be desired.  The Regulator is both a good mini and a great game unit, and the only logical choice for me.

Speck, thanks for this.  It's a great idea actually!

I voted for the Regulator...though I was deeply torn and also wanted to vote for the Rakshasa.

I too would like to give a "Thank You" to IWM for taking some of these mechs off the archive list, even if for only a month. I voted for the Black Lanner, don't have one. O0 [applause]

I voted Regulator too.  I just repainted a pair and kitbashed the hoverskirt a little so that it looks more like the art.  I'd like to kitbash some more as Arrow IV boats.

I am glad Iron Wind is doing this.  I never liked the Archiving.  I find this a fair.   Although I would suggest considering doing it in a way were a mech and a vechical were avaidable every month. Maybe two of each.

Depending on how successful this is over the next few months, we may move in that direction. So keep up the votes, we are down to the wire.

So, since Speck said the top two would be brought back, does that mean that both the Kingfisher and Rakshasa are coming back with the Regulator?
