Hello again folks. I had this idea hit me a while back and I wanted to put it to paper, so to speak...

The Beholder is the Ghost Bear Dominion's answer to cheap artillery support. A Quad model for greater stability, the Beholder carries a single tube mortar strapped to its back, with a generous eight shots of ammo provided per suit. Attached ahead of the artillery piece is a small BattleArmor turret sported the typical Clan BA weapon-par-excellence, the AP Gauss Rifle. This allows the mech to cover itself while lobbing high explosive shells in the enemy's general direction. The armor on the suit is Improved Stealth, which helps as the mech doesn't have that much of it. 12 points of armor is less than what a Heavy Suit could carry, but with that artillery piece eating a quarter of the suits total weight, the designers had to make something give. Magnetic Clamps let the suit ride on pretty much anything, suction cupped to the top of a tank or to the hips of a battlemech.

It is noted that the Beholder is not the most popular suit for the Clan's Trueborn elementals to use, but those worthy freeborn in the Toumen usually take the machine with a will. Mostly because dropping five high explosive rounds a turn on a hex is quite a bit of fun and they have the ammo to burn.

I'm fairly certain you can't put MagClamps on assault or quad BA.

Also, I don't get the weight to add up... I get about 1900kg?

Yeah, I actually learned that today. I always though MagClamps could fit onto any BA. But apparently not  :-[

I'll have to go back and look at it. I had to play around to fit everything. So the Turret actually has 3 slots open, 1 for the AP Gauss Rifle and 2 taken up by the Stealth Armor Bulk to fit. It has two separate magazines for artillery shells...

Can get nearly everything you want with a biped using detachable weapon packs.

Well, I didn't really want to do that as the other BA artillery suit already is a biped design.

Also, the mental image of the suit bracing itself on all four limbs really appeals to me.

However, that suggestion of the DWP...

Okay, so its slower now, but it has a total of twelve shots now, and it has even more armor. Not quite enough to tank a direct hit from enemy artillery I know, but this thing should be moving each round, which cannot be said for some artillery platforms (As BA don't have movement penalties!).

The Improved Stealth Armor helps hide it from active probes aside from the Bloodhound, which is clearly a good thing. Artillery you can hide behind stuff? Yes Please.
