Any news on the Talos mech and Carnivore tank?
« on: 21 September 2012, 17:27:15 »
They are on the schedule as being released the last week of August.  With a month past this date I was wondering if there was any news on them?

They both say "This product will be in stock on Monday 15 October, 2012." on the IWM site.

Figures that info is posted about them between this post and the last time I looked at IWM. :D

Thanks.

They were shipped to stores and distributors last week. I just got mine today and will work to have pictures up ASAP but I have a website move to do first.

They were on the shelf at my local store last weekend. Somebody snagged the last Carnivores five minutes before I got there... >:(

I saw them on Saturday and I didn't take them.
So it was after Noon or so.

Both were at my FLGS Saturday in Baltimore- Talos is still there, Carnivores escaped with Redshirt. Two to a pack, which was good to see.

Teh Talos looked nice. I'm not entirely sure why I picked up the Templar instead. Oh well. Another day.

They are on my list to get assembled and pictures up on the store. But I am busy getting things ready to move the website to a new host at the end of the week.

I can help out with some quick pictures of the Talos - a very nice miniature overall. A few things bother me though - the back has no detail and the miniature too big (both in width and height, but not as "off" as other releases in the past) especially since the fluff explicitly states its "short stature". Also the upper arms could be a tad longer (or better proportioned) and the cockpit arrangement doesn't quite match the art.
But it is a nice mini regardless with a MadCat-ish feel to it. There were almost no moldlines and all the pieces fit together without any problems. Also the feet are not attached to the base (Yay! More of this please!) so it is possible to pose the miniature easily. I am pretty sure the way I built the Mech is not how it was sculpted.

Please excuse the lousy pictures, but I only had my cell at hand.

Hardly lousy pictures...perfect IMO.  Unassemble, assemble and comparison shots..."Shack" as we used to say in the USAF (B-1Bs anyways).  Solid assement as well.  Cockpit/torso is way off, proportions are skewed and once again WAY TO BIG.  Probably would have been better to have the LRM/SRM launchers as separate peices too.  Casting and poseability, however, appear to be excellent.  Was looking forward to this one, but am now scratching it off my list.    The AC-10 has possibilties as a spare part.  Hoping the tanks are better.

Again thanks for the EXCELLENT pics!

That Talos does look rather huge for a 50 tonner. Then again -- for the exception of the Yao Lien -- all those minis in its midst are older, smaller sculpts.

Still... that doesn't excuse the bad proportions.

The turret guns look off on the Carnivore.  Like there are more barrel apertures than the art indicates?

But as usual, they are too big.  If it can't fit in a a hex, it is too big.

If you are used to the MW version, that had a single barrel housing with both gausses in it. 3085 separated the barrels and the mini makes it a little wider separation than 3085.

Got any pics of the single-barrel? When I get these I'll be using them for Falcons, who use the single HAG-40 variant. This might be a good reference for possible kitbashing.

Found a few using google, but they are all uploaded on ebay and the like, so I'm not sure if I can link them here...
