Blood Spirit Mech help
« on: 05 March 2018, 04:06:06 »
I'm looking at making a Blood Spirit force, I know they generally lacked for Omni's and made a great use of IIC designs or their own builds (Blood Kite, Stooping Hawk etc) but what heavies did they use, or could you just go 'Guillotine IIC' and roll with it?

According to the RATs (so yeah) common Blood Spirit heavies include the Grizzly, Thresher, Rifleman IIC, Galahad, Crossbow, Thor and Vulture. But not the Guillotine IIC. So yeah.

Just thinking of (once I figure out how to properly use mega-mek) to play against a friend and use a Blood Spirit force. :)

The Crossbow appears very often on the heavy RAT, as does the Grizzly.  Once you get into the second line RAT, SLDF Mechs like the Black Knight put in appearances too.

Here is what the MUL says, though obviously I'd take it with a grain of salt at some of the Eras, and feel free to add in anything you might like.

Grizzlies?  I wonder if they got those secondhand when they traded ships for mechs with the Ravens.

No. The Grizz has been on the Blood Spirit RATs going back to FM:CC. Since it's such an old design, there could have any number of ways that they could have gotten them, and it's hardly an exclusive design.

Not that they are exclusive but rather about the Spirits reclusive nature.  Also, pretty sure the swap for warships for mechs thing happened before CC?  Did they do it more than once?

The deal was made once, but the shipments occurred over a fairly extended period of time.  I personally think that the Spirits indeed did get the Grizzly from the Ravens, who in turn got it from their Bear allies.  Occam's Razor, and all.  And yes, the swaps were long before FMCC; the write up for one of the second line galaxies even states that it was formed from the final shipment from the Ravens (Upsilon, maybe?  I forget.)

As a spirit enthusiast I love this question! In addition to the suggestions already made I like to add old tech pre Omni mechs like the imp or early omnis like the lupus

The Stooping Hawk is an omni.
I do not know what era you play, but you could rely on protomechs.
