Miniature of the Fortnight #19: Avatar
« on: 11 June 2017, 23:01:47 »
This fortnight, we look at one of the first Inner Sphere OmniMechs, the Avatar, first seen on TRO 3058.  The 'Mech is, appearance-wise, somewhat similar to its predecessor, the Mad Dog (Vulture), mostly below the waist (and on the upper arms of the resculpt).

There have been three sculpts:
  • The original sculpt released by Ral Partha (20-915).
  • The resculpt currently sold by Iron Wind Metals (20-396).
  • A sculpt of the AV1-OB configuration (FT-008).  I'm not sure if this is based on the original sculpt or the resculpt.

Please post any miniatures you'd like to share!  I'm particulary looking forward to seeing conversions done to represent the other configurations.

Thank you for reading and, especially, thank you to those who post!

Next fortnight's 'Mech will be the Kit Fox (Uller).

Two lists of canon confugurations for Avatar, partly my own making, and some - tweaked in Photoshop pics from CSO, as temporary placements. Will change them later, for sure.

Those are great! Kudos to you and the other CSO artists.

(Any chance of a parts breakdown for each of them? Especially the arms on the OH.)

The OH looks like the LE Catapult PPC arms with some extra work done.

Okay, I've got two. First up, Ryuken-Ni Avatar C, with friends:

A real mixer - legs from a plastic CityTech MadCat, original sculpt torso, shoulders from DA Uller arms, PPC from a Warhammer and UAC from a DA Partisan truck.

Second ... bother! Lost it in the SolVII crash. An Avatar Prime in 4th Arkab Legion colours. WIll try and pic this week.

The FanTech mini is based on the original sculpt.

It's been over a decade since I've painted an Avatar... here's an example of each of the three sculpts in the order they were made (original, FanTech, resculpt).
