SL-17Y Blazing Shilone
« on: 10 November 2024, 22:33:36 »
Not sure you can really consider this an upgrade, but it swaps the large laser for a full Blazer, dropping the LRM-20 to an LRM-15.  The aft SRM launcher is swapped for a single medium laser, which leaves enough free tonnage for an extra heat sink.  Due to the peculiarities of weapon abstraction for aerospace fighters, you end up with 1 point more damage in the nose and aft.

Nice way to get a thresholding weapon on the Shilone!  I have a Lucifer brick version around here somewhere... ;)

While this is cool as a 3SW oddity, I have a better place for a Blazing Shilone

Drop 4 DHS from the 3050's Shilone that is oversinked anyway to upgrade the LL to Blazer then

Excellent idea!  Though by that point, you should probably be looking at a Heavy PPC... ;)

Not available for another 2.5 decades.

But that would be a nice Jihad era refit.

Holy crap, I hadn't realized the SL-17R debuted in 3042. That's awesome.

Yeah, the DC upgraded their fighters very early on.
They clearly ran out of the DHS by the time they got to the Panther line

Not like the Panther needed it, well until they decided to slap a ERPPC in

Though I like to think of it as an upgraded energy AC10, due to the thresholding rules, a Blazer in 3SW aerospace has more utility on an ASF than a mech.

On a 'mech it's a head capper, which is its own kind of utility... ;)
