So, to be clear, just how canon are the
BattleTech: Adventures publications? To get the obvious out of the way, of course there is no true canon outcome until if and when a future publication establishes one—which is unlikely in most cases. That being said, the following comment got me curious:
Additionally Battletech: Adventures units are not added to the MUL
Considering the MUL is meant to be (at least, as I understand it), the definitive source for all canon units—including many units mentioned only in passing, as background details in fiction, or sometimes even alternate brand names for the same unit—this blanket inclusion feels notable. It's a pretty glaring rule of exception for what is otherwise an astoundingly comprehensive list. Even the Swiftstar Mk. 20, which
does exist on the MUL based on its description in
Historical: Liberation of Terra I, chooses to omit its record sheet in
Ghosts of Obeedah.
This all leads me to ask—are the context and facts laid down in
Adventures publications canon? Is the existence of The Broken, or the fate of Obeedah canon as described? Or are they merely "what if" scenarios? Or, hell, just a big ol' writer's shrug until an established author comes forward with a really cool idea for a story that uses them?
