Something I made a fair while back (before I had made the switch to MML from HMA and SSW, in fact). I originally wrote fluff for it, but reading it today I'm kinda eh.
Basic concept is that it was built as a response to the Soyal. Not a military one, mind you, but a political one meant to flex Star League technical superiority by putting the single most powerful transit drive ever developed onto a warship. All other concerns were considered secondary.
Because nobody had ever tried to make a ship that big accelerate that hard before, the lead ship SLS
Greyhound almost immediately suffered problems when it set out on its shakedown cruise in November of 2766. By the time the Amaris coup had begun, the
Greyhound had already broken down and was forced to limp to a belter settlement for assistance. She was (more or less) patched up just in time for the battleship
Tadeo Amaris to arrive. She gave a good accounting of herself, but stress cracking throughout her jump drive and another failure of her transit drive prevented her from escaping and led to the ship's destruction.
Amaris would push for the four incomplete ships to be completed throughout his reign, but the escape of most of the design and development staff and repeated sabotage kept that goal from being achieved, and the fate of the four incomplete ships is unknown.
