(Answered) Omni-Mechs & Cargo Space
« on: 06 November 2012, 17:28:19 »
Okay, I know Omni-Vehicles can mount Cargo.
(Bandit carries 2-3 squads of BA depending on space)

And Omni-Fighters can mount Cargo.
   (Kirghiz-C anyone)

Can Omni-Mechs mount Cargo space ?
I can't find an example & I'm wondering if they can mount cargo space or infantry space as a pod ?

Sorry for the long response time,  I've had a lot of "house issues" lately that have made my books harder to access.

I think I found part of the answer on page 239/240 of Tech Manual.

Or at least that would be where its covered for basic battlemechs.

But what I was really wondering is can Omni's create a bay with their pod space ?

I'm not seeing anything that specifically covers omni's so other than the generic "mechs can't be built in with them" answer on 239/240.  Yet Industrial Mechs CAN carry cargo/infantry bays.
The fluff even comments on how its rumored the Horses looked into it & how its just illogical to use a mech as an APC.

So to get specific does the 239 chart cover Omnipods as well as basic chassis ?

Per the TM errata:

"BattleMechs may only carry Standard, Liquid, or Insulated Cargo Bays; IndustrialMechs may only carry Standard, Liquid, Insulated, or Container Cargo Bays; ProtoMechs may not carry Transport Bays of any kind."

In short: Cargo can be pod-mounted per se, and per the Cargo rules (revised with errata) 'Mechs can pod-mount it.

Cheers.

Thanks Xotl.   I really have to get that Errata,  maybe a reason to buy the PDF version in the future & save some wear on my DT one.

So to make sure I can understand this right.

1.  I can Pod Mount a Cargo Bay.  But, this is bulk cargo, not a dedicated APC type bay w/ seats.

2.  I "could", in theory, carry grunts/BA in this bay, BUT, it would be like storing them in a DS cargo bay & they would not be deployable under combat conditions ?

3.  So my Omnimech is still stuck deploying a max of 1 squad/point of BA in a game.  (Using hard points on the exterior)

1. Yes.

2. No.  No infantry at all.  Not as bulk cargo, not as passengers.

3. Yes.

In addition, the errata file is freely downloadable from the following URL:http://bg.battletech.com/?page_id=25
TechManual has the most errata of all teh core rulebooks at present, as it has not had a ewn release in some time.  Therefore most of the errata won't be in the most recent pdf.
