Total Warfare (p. 249, Heading Attacks by Grounded Aerospace Units) includes rules for grounded fighters and DropShips to attack while landed. For DropShips, there is a note under Firing Weapons that DropShips use ground ranges and damage while there is no similar sentence for fighters.
Resolve each individual weapon as a separate attack, using ranges and damage values as found on pages 303-304.
Attacks by and against fighters are defined however nothing is said about using the standard ground weapon ranges and damage values.
Fighters have the same firing arcs and attack directions for incoming fire on the ground map as they do on the space map; all weapon attacks by grounded fighters apply a +2 to-hit modifier.
So far I have not found any limit that constrains grounded fighter ranges. So, theoretically a grounded fighter's small lasers are now quite long ranged.
Is this intentional?
On a side note, my reading of the DropShip section includes rolling cluster rolls for attacks with cluster weapons, however this is not explicitly stated. Is this a correct interpretation, or should cluster rolls be assumed to be 7?
