Timing out
« on: 28 May 2016, 01:41:06 »
It has long been an issue that the forum times out due to server connectivity issues, it seems to be getting worse of late.

Any plans to replace this problem, it is getting somewhat frustrating...

*edit* It has taken me three attempts to post this due to timing out.

I read in one thread that around 4am EST the server starts dumping daily logs which causes the forums to barf on everything. It really is a major pain. Oddly enough I did not have the complete timeout as you did, though last night I could not connect at all for about an hour.

I think the serious question to CGL on this is who is hosting the server. Does CGL use its own servers to host all the sites? Do they use another hosting service? Is it some shared service or is it a co-located server? There are a lot of questions and as having ran several websites and forum I have never experienced anything like what everyone has to deal with on this site. I've never even had to experience this on much much larger communities.

I'm not aware of CGL owning any servers. Maybe some laptops....
