His Patreon is definitely worth it.
It's previews. Period. I found that even when he was asking for opinions, he really wasn't open to them in the slightest. Not worth the $2 in my opinion.

For some, that's worth it.

I like the previews. It’s not like my opinions on art are worth anything anyway

What you’re actually doing is subsidizing his income so he has more time to kick out BT material. That’s why I put in $2

You bought the box set and are ready to expand your bt experience. Now what? | Modern Sourcebook Index | FASA Sourcebook Index | Print on Demand Index

If you are asking to tell a artist what to do, that is called a commission. Those usually run higher than a couple of dollars.

$2 is a subscription for already commissioned art. Considering many of us have payed $50 or more for a art book, it's not a bad price.

Not a Patron myself, need to save money where I can but it's one of the more tempting Patron offers.

Aye that's a really good way of putting it :) But also on his Patreon he has asked for opinions and thoughts on stuff, the Orion being one notable example.

Not my first rodeo.

When I was a patron, ACS asked for opinions... just like I stated in my post.

My main bummer is not being able to afford a rank that could have gotten a lance of minis.  Only the starter stuff and one salvage thing which ended up to being the UrbanMech.

Huh?  The UrbanMech is not going to be in the salvage boxes?

Rear-set legs with forward bending knees has always looked really stupid.

The low slung SRM-6 launchers look about as silly.  ::)  Honestly, I felt having humanoid legs would give it some more character. A lot of character of the original designs are going out the window, especially with cockpits, and the interchangeability the original 3050 omnimechs had. Clan 'Mechs are also less alien like because they don't look light and compact anymore. They look way more like Inner Sphere knockoffs.

All of it is subjective, I'm pretty sure 10 years from now they're not going to age well.

Yeah, the polls really didn't mean that much, and if you have an opinion you were quickly shot down and called a grog. The Marauder II is the big one... absolutely no budging at all.

I'll go ahead and stake a controversial opinion that the only "character" most of the early Loose art 'Mechs have going for them is that they look really, really dumb.  Respect the man's output and dedication, but the sooner all of that is in the rearview window the better.

Add "unpopular" to that. They have shown their staying power, much like Star Trek and Star Wars design, and because even Catalyst fought to use the Unseen designs in the first place.

But I'm walking away from this, because all we're going to do is argue in circles.

People keep having this argument like it’s going to change anything.

Real influence over art direction is going to cost more than $2 a month

Would it be an echo chamber if the patreon crowd agreed with you? Yes. The only difference is you’d find the acoustics more pleasing

Either way is bad. If all patrons felt sharing their opinions was welcome, that would be good. As it is, or was when I left, ACS asked opinions and talked down to those whose opinions did not match his own.

***MOD NOTICE***

This thread is for the Kickstarter. As dgorsman suggested, let's drop other arguments and refocus.

Or we can turn this thread around and go back home like disappointed parents.

So how can Catylst do this https://www.amazon.com/Battletech-Inner-Sphere-Command-Lance/dp/B086RVDC22/ref=sr_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=battletech+lance&qid=1586648089&sr=8-11   but not have the actually delivery date for backers?
