Capellan mercenary mechs
« on: 11 October 2019, 19:45:48 »
Just finished painting these up for one of the local Demo Team members, John Gavin Wilcox. It is a custom scheme he requested. The Pillager and the Jinggua appear to be older IWM casts and the metal was a bit softer and had shallower detail than the other mechs. I'll need to be a bit more particular with any similar mechs I get in the future. They don't hold washes in the same way

The cockpits washed out a bit under my light and so the highlights are visible. They have an orange textured look that the camera doesn't pick up.

Nice paint jobs and excellent basing, even if I don't recognize all the 'mechs...

Thanks. They are all Dark Age or post Civil War designs. I had to get John to tell me what they were. I’d never even seen the Jinggua before :-)

Nice looking mechs, good color combo and I like the subtle edge highlights.

Nice!
(Though I'll be over here in the corner, failing my 'Mech recognition test again - I can't do the new ones, either. Hell, I can barely do the old ones sometimes!)
"That's Lieutenant Faceplant to you, Corporal!"

Things that I have learnt through clicking too fast on 'Move Done' on MegaMek: Double-check the CF of the building before jumping onto it, check artillery arrival times before standing in the neighbouring hex, and don't run across your own minefield.

"Hmm, I wonder if I can turn this into a MM map."

I was pretty sure I knew a lance of them but while the last 2 looked familiar I couldn't name them & had to look them up.

From Left to Right

Jinggau
Shen Yi
Lao Hu
Tian Zong
Marauder
Pillager
3041: General Lance Hawkins: The Equalizers
3053: Star Colonel Rexor Kerensky: The Silver Wolves

Great Work.

Though I'd point out that the Pillager dates back to the SLDF era & the Marauder does also though that particular sculpt is from 3067

The Jinggau & Lao Hu were both developed just before the Civil War.

Only the 2 I couldn't name are truly NEW designs from very recent TROs.   Shen Yi & Tian Zong.

I've seen them on the table top from our last campaign where a player was playing Cappie, but couldn't recall the names.

Great work indeed!

If you're doing one in the future, the Pillager benefits from sawing at the waist and making a 1/4" insert. Brings it back to lordly Assault size ;)
