The Free Worlds League: Wolf Empire Reunion Tour
« on: 13 February 2022, 12:14:30 »
One of these days someone is going to realize that you get to just pick the thread title if you make the new thread.

Open to change if enough people complain, even more open to invoking emergency powers vested in the office of the Captain-General to keep it how it is.
Catalyst Demo Agent #679

Kansas City players, or people who are just passing through the area, come join us at the Geekery just off Shawnee Mission Parkway for BattleTech!  Current days are Tuesdays in the afternoon and evening.  I can't make every single week, but odds are pretty good that somebody will be there.

Don’t tell that to the Free Worlder’s: they’ll make seven threads and each of them will claim they are the true thread!

This would be funny for about a day.  Dibs on the Regulan thread if we do it.

Oh, I'm sure we'll free Andurien (from its despotic insurrectionist government) eventually.

Personally, I hope with Regulus getting re-integrated into the League we get a Merkava Mk X to become the main battle tank of the FWLM.  It really lacks something of theirs produced in that weight range and the assault tanks are no great shakes either.  IMO it is the only candidate until Andurien comes back with their Moltke.  Or have they picked up a Kinnol line from the Republic break up?

And yes, I would love to drop a Fox built Gauss Rifle in for the Light Gauss that rests in the turret though I think the SSRM would have to become a SRM, Clan SSRM, or shrink a launcher size to get more Gauss ammo.

And it will be glorious. I love the Tempest. Used it once to lead a No-Dachi on a merry chase and flank a Highlander IIC at the same time. Got 'em both.

By the way, I realized recently, that the Scourge could be considered something of a successor to the Tempest: A Gauss Rifle for long range fun, a good (although slightly weaker) short range punch, better mobility, same weight...

Andurien is Capellan? I sleep. Andurien is part of the Free Worlds League? I sleep. Andurien is independent? I sleep. Andurien is annexed by the Magistracy of Canopus? Oh baby, it's all coming together now!

The Andurien storyline is a matter of trying to pick of the pieces. Wallacia willingly joining the Capellan Confederation was about as likely as Tharkad willingly joining the Draconis Combine. Still, it is now canon, which is consequential.

What sealed the deal was the marriage . . . Humphries was originally avoiding the entanglements b/c he realized his smaller/weaker state would be the junior & thus abused partner.

Funny thing with that is the description of Ilsa makes her a 60 year old bombshell.  But the art, either ER or FM 3145 made her look like some dowager queen prune- besides being one of those funky pictures due to the way the art was being done.

By description, she is more like Ming Na . . . pictured here at 58.

Was just building a force and trying to look at what i had for mini’s and forgot I had a fully painted and assembled Tempest and was like ‘Oo did the C ever come out’ and was sad when I remembered ‘no’.

Art was rarely kind to the Liaos overall I feel.  There were a few exceptions, but they were few.

Will I get mod smacked if I post an overhead shot of my Succession Wars era 1st FWG combined arms Battalion here?

Also, is this enough purple?

On a tangentially miniature related note, does the League operate any particular formations that are traditionally noted for operating as Aggressor units? (More so that the typical League tendency to turn on itself anyway.)

I'm looking for a place to dump a Marauder II, Banshee and a couple of Hatchetmen in League colours, so an OPFOR specialist unit would fit the bill if we have one.

Maybe a unit that faced WoB or was with Task Force Serpent perhaps.  Losses would have to be replaced with whatever could be procured.

The Knights of the Inner Sphere or the Free Worlds Guards come to mind since they saw a lot of action vs other forces during 3057 to the Jihad. For late Dark Age/ilClan era, perhaps a Regulan Hussars unit? They use a ton of Steiner stuff alongside League equipment.
