(Answered) Point Defense damage against Capital Missiles
« on: 17 December 2018, 09:25:30 »
The damage of a point defense bay against capital missiles appears ambiguous on SO 96-97.

The first paragraph says that PDW bays must be in point defense mode.

The second paragraph says that against standard missiles the damage is halved & rounded up at capital scale.

Under the capital missiles subheading (taking into account errata, page 5) it doesn't specify whether the damage of the PDW bay is halved (as per second paragraph) or not (as per default).

By the strictest reading, I'd expect 'not', since the halving is scoped to standard missiles, but many elements of the first 6 paragraphs seem to be meant to apply to all uses of PDWs so I'm unsure what the editors meant.

Yes---it specifies that the attack value of the PD bay should be used, not half the attack value.
