Also, I find myself mesmerized by Monica Rial's voice, no matter how many things she's cast in.

What I found amusing was listening to the commentary for Burst Angel, one of the producers (IIRC) was trying to place the voice of Jo after watching the dub of the first episode, and couldn't do it...he was completely shocked when he was told it was Monica Rial that voiced the character...

Actor:  Jeff Bridges. From "The Dude" to "Rooster". Darn fine actor.  Morgan Freeman gets #2.
Actress: Er, well a lot.  I like Anne Hathaway quite a bit and I will usually watch an Angelina Jolie movie.  I also have a weird obsession with Joan Cusack. No judgment.

Oh, we can add voice actors.

Well in that case, I'll watch things that David Kaye is in. Why? Because his voice is the one that I wish that I had. It can range from soft intellect to boorish, loyal moron. Plus, he was Beast Wars Megatron who was my favorite Megs. Oh, yes!

And I love Monica Riel and Jennifer Hale as well.

Actor: Sean Connery, the man was the only Bond that actually acted like he had some class. A real man's man. Honorable mention goes to Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian, Vincent Price, Charlton Heston, the Duke, Morgan Freeman, Johnny Depp and Harrison Ford.

Actress: I have a hard time picking a favorite, so I won't. I know I'll just wind up waffling later.

Voice actor: Mark Hamill, huge range there though I can see why some folks went with Steve "Spike" Blum

Narrator: Ron Perlman, not a bad actor either but man what a voice. Honorable mention to Lenard Nemoy, Morgan Freeman, Sigourney Weaver, and Patrick Stewart.

I think Hollywood's greatest voice was Michael Ansara. Very few as distinctive as his.

If I have to pick just one, I'd say Sir Ian McKellen, for a lot of reasons and a lot of roles, especially Shakespeare.
Though honourable mentions to Christian Bale (even if he seems to go a bit far in some of his preparations), Denzel Washington (odd movie choices of late) and Russell Crowe.

In terms of actresses I'm kind of stuck, since a lot of it seems to be looks over talent. Though I think Helena Bonham-Carter is talented with looks, same with Portman and I think Hathaway has a good career ahead of her if she chooses the right films.

Male - Oldschool would be either sean connery or Rutgear hauer.  I always loved hauer from deadlock, ladyhawke and other films while connery is just DA MAN.
New school pierce bronan (loved him in mamma mia) or Jason statham.

Female.  Old school...  Hmm this is hard.
New would have to be Jessica alba.

I thought some during the recess about my favorite actors and actresses, just kinda curious to see who every one else is fond of.  No restrictions.  Living or dead, major movie star or short-lived tv actor, it doesn't matter.

Mine:
Actor: John Wayne
Actress: Summer Glau

Also, why?  My why is a few posts down.
Weird Me too though Dushku or the Deschanel Sisters come in close.

Actor: John Wayne.
I was also raised on his movies and still watch them when I have time. The variety of characters and themes never cease to amaze me.
Actress: Jaime Lee Curtis
This is because I have enjoyed every movie I saw her in.

Ooooh. Forgot about Jamie Lee. Quite a good choice, but I think I like Andrews just a little better.

Guys: no one really stands head and shoulders above the other. That said. John Wayne, Gregory Peck, Sean Connery, Harrison Ford, William Powell(The Thin Man series), Vincent Price, James Coco, David Niven, Peter Sellers, Peter Falk, Fred MacMurry, Ed Norton(The Illusionist)

Girls: I like the chics too much... Claudette Colbert, Audrey Hepburn, Myrna Loy, Jane Seymour, Kelly Hu, Jessica Biel(The Illusionist)... ok my brain baked due to coming up with just those. Though I am sure there are many more that slip my mind.

Not overly impressed with modern actresses and actors.

Yeah, tough choice. Recently watched Blake Edwards S.O.B. and she was a riot!

For me this question boils down to decade, as actors have good and bad periods depending on their choice of films they audition for. So really difficult.

Sandra Bullock, but Helen Mirren and Angelina Jolie would also score high too, as would Summer Glau and Leana Headey.

Bruce Willis, Alan Rickman and Kurt Russell are my top three, but Johnny Depp and Robert Downey Jr. are good too, and not to forget Robert Mitchum, Tanaka Ken, Toshiro Mifune, Christopher Walken and Clint Eastwood.

Damn, you are right!  He was such a class act!  Good pick!

I'm a big fan of:

Benny 'the Jet' Urquidez

Wombat, if I didn't already think you were cool as all get out you would've jumped to the top of the list for that.

As for my picks:

Actor: Gene Hackman. Hero, villain, funny man... He can do it all, sometimes in the same role.  Popeye Doyle, Lex Luthor, Sam Boyd, Little Bill Daggett, Jimmy McGinty, all great performances in sometimes sub-par or unknown movies.

Actress: As much as I'm tempted to nominate Lindsay Lohan for her impressive "talents" and "body of work" so to speak I'm gonna take the high road. For once.  Dame Judi Dench impresses me, and both Helen Mirren and Betty White both amuse the hack out of me with their ability and range.  Probably not the threesome some of you were expecting...
Endo has forgotten more about dispensing pain than you or I will ever know...

My favorite actor is Jeff Daniels. His versatility is what I like. He made "Dumd and Dumber" and "Gettysburg" both work for him.

My favorite actress is Kristin Chenoweth. Same reason. She played totally dumb in "Annie" and super smart in "The Music Man".

I really had to give this a lot of thought.

Actress: Amy Acker.  Why?  I find her (personally) to be quite versatile and talented.

Actor: Christopher Walken.  He'll be in anything, and always plays the same character, but he does it so well.

Actor:  Peter O'Toole (Gregory Peck is a very close second, but Man of La Mancha puts Mr. O'Toole over the top)
Actress:  Audrey Hepburn (The most beautiful woman ever and the epitome of old Hollywood class)

Actor:  Peter O'Toole  Actress:
Audrey Hepburn

I could easily go with the above but now I am compelled to make different choices  :):

I have many favorites but I'll go with -

Actor: John Wayne

Actress: Angelina Joelie
