And how many warships the Nova Cats have right now ?
If is a decent group / touman that is going to be a good help for Victor and a major disaster for the Combine.

Yes and no. They have a number of Aegis class Heavy Cruisers which Theodore no doubt desperately wants to give his naval forces teeth. They are arguably the best Clan Cruiser (despite the fact that its almost the oldest damn warship still in service!!) and although we have not seen (IIRC) the actual stats for the Davion III class, my guess is that they look like an upgunned and slower version of that ship. AKA Avalon Bait.

The rest of those Stars are Carrack class transports and various Corvettes, unless things have changed in this timeline. Which would be great if Victor could refit them as armed freighters and assign them to lead trade convoys through the outback and periphery regions, if he can get his hands on them :)

I call you by your true name: Scum of the Star League, traitors of free will, persecutors of the Periphery come back to lord it over freedom-loving people. Come ahead, you steel-eyed robots! Come ahead and taste what a million like-minded people think of you and your damn Clans!"

I think the Cats had a vision of this happening early on in the timeline though I can't r.remember which post it was. Whatever the case I get the feeling they may begin to descreatly start to move some of their second line warriors and civilians out of the prefecture along with some Iron Wombs and gene vaults.

Don’t forget though: in this AU they might not have trialed for the Rasalhague Battleship: which means both their and the Ghost Bear’s Navy are stronger than canon. If Theodore is asking for five Galaxies of troops... that’s a big portion of their touman. Plus I doubt that Delta Galaxy ever got training with the SLDF on Kittery.

I'm pretty sure it was Tau Galaxy that was stationed on Kittery during the St. Ives Crisis in canon.

considering that the whole reason the Nova Cats saved the smoke jaguar prisoners for the explicit purpose of using that debt, later on, to have the Sun Jaguars and their liege save them that is exactly what they plan to do. Maybe put up a token fight then bounce.

So that answers the question about where the TC idiots went. Now Peter has to deal with the fallout from wasting his time and makes himself look lesser. He needs to pump it into overdrive. Get the Naval crash building expansions start new slips and begin updating Lyran designs and Clan ships to make his own navy instead of relying on the FedSuns designs. He has ComStar on his side and even has the same deal for shipyard expansion. Get a couple of destroyer yards up and running. He needs to go big with his build-up he can't afford the steady build-up that Victor went with he is too far behind now. He needs a massive effort all at once right now to catch up somewhat and to show his people that the Lyran Alliance is still a power house. He doesn't nor can he keep it past this first rapid build-up but after that he can do the steady build-up thing now that he is closer to Victor. Plus he should pull his forces back from the FWL and let them kill each other off instead and focus on the clans on his boarders.

3069 - November - The Combine goes Dark

With the plans in place and approved by not only the Marshal of Armies but the First Prince as well the AFFS's Department of Education and the Quartermaster's Office goes into full operation. Large scale movements of both personnel and equipment begin to make sure that the new units to be formed will be ready, while large scale transfers take place to bring various units up to strength and at the same time the graduating cadets from the academies prepare to move to the training units.

At the same time the Khan of Clan Sun Jaguar travels to New Avalon to meet the First Prince. Star Colonel Inamma of the 1st Fidelis Jaguar Mystics has informed her that she has been contacted by several close friends and sibmates within Clan Nova Cat - all of them carefully informing her that they wish her all the best in the upcoming trials that are sure to take place and hoping that they don't find themselves on opposite sides of said trials. The warning is clear - Clan Nova Cat believes that they will soon be engaged in active combat operations against the Federated Suns and their Sun Jaguar allies. When combined with intelligence reports of troop movements there is little down that the Dragon is stirring for war. Worse some reports are stating that Clan Snow Raven has sent emissaries to Luthien to discuss a potential alliance. While the Federated Sun's Navy has a comfortable lead over to the Draconis Combine Admiralty, if the Nova Cat and Snow Raven fleets deploy en-mass then this could be swiftly overturned.

The the naval units in the Draconis March and the 5th Corvette Flotilla in particular are swiftly ordered to a war footing - with the 5th Flotilla ordered to deploy to dead systems near the Outworld's Alliance in case the Ravens attempt a preemptive strike. Meanwhile the AFFS moves large numbers of aerospace wings and regiments along with combat dropship squadron's to all critical systems. Woodbine in particular see's no less than 3 aerospace regiments (mostly consisting of a mix of Stuka, Corsair and Sparrowhawk class fighters) shifted quickly to bolster the garrisoning 14th Avalon Hussars RCT along with 2 additional squadrons of combat dropships. The orders sent with these units are clear - they are to take every opportunity to bleed any Snow Raven naval invasion force in each system. While they are unlikely to destroy many ships the damage will swiftly mount up and with only the decrepit yards at Quatre Belle to rely on for repairs the Snow Ravens will hopefully have to break off their attack - leaving the Federated Sun's warship fleet to then counter attack once the Combine has been dealt with.

After some discussion with Khan Nevversan in particular First Prince Davion approves the rushing of Star Colonel Inamma and her unit from their garrison post to the Combine border. Although reluctant he agrees to allow the Star Colonel to cross the border to meet with her former Clan and attempt to convince them not to take part in this invasion. Prince's Champion Ardan Sortek personally accompanies her at the First Princes's representative. In the meantime his role is filled by his nominated successor Galen Cox.

Although knowing that things are beginning to spiral out of control the First Prince does make a final effort to preserve the peace. He sends a personal message not only to the Coordinator but also to the Khan of the Snow Ravens, suggesting that war is in nobodies interests. Unknown to the other 2 recipients he also sends a third message with his Champion to be given to the Khans of the Nova Cats.

The 7th Crucis Lancers RCT, 1st Federated Suns Armoured Cavalry and the mercenary Wolf Dragoon's Zeta Battalion are both also given secret orders at this time and at the end of November lift off from their garrison posts and disappear from sight. All 3 units are at or nearly at full strength and are considered amongst the finest units available to the AFFS.

On Menke the new SunCorp facilities declares their intent to add a Longbow line to the plant there. This move proceeds to lead to a slight decrease in the amount of resentment from the former StarCorp employees of the plant. After all an increase in production facilities means more jobs, promotions and greater job security!

On newly conquered Victoria the first of the rebuild production lines enters service. The lightest of the designs being put into service there, the Sling light battlemech, see's it's production line go operational with the other lines not far behind.

GM's Point Barrow facility see's the Blackjack-O line go online. After this construction has completed the facilities battle armour production lines are pushed for expansion at an ever increasing pace to keep up with demand.

Mujika-Wangker's plant on St Ives finally finishes retooling to produce the Tomahawk class aerospace fighter. These are offered for sale both to the AFFS and ComGuards and are snapped up instantly.

Within the Free Worlds League the Atreus Captain-General continued to prepare to counter attack against the Lyrans. She received a huge boost when the WOB offer her no less than 12 Zechetinu II corvettes to help with the counter attack. Against the Federated Sun's Navy these ships probably wouldn't be a major factor, but against the massively under strength Lyran Navy these ships give the Free Worlds Navy loyal to the Atreus Government a major boost in strength.

Over Dieron the WOB's first convoy carrying battlemech's arrives - and is immedietly ambushed at the zenith jump point by ComGuard naval ships. The escorting WoBS Herald of Retribution and 2 Suffren destroyers were attacked by CSV Blake's Strength, CSV Righteous Fury and CSV Swift Justice and 4 Fox class corvettes. The Black Lion and 1 of the Comstar Aegis cruisers hammer volleys into the WOB Aegis cruiser while the other Comstar Aegis cruiser manoeuvred to hold off the 2 Suffren destroyers. While the heavier warships fought it out the 4 Fox's and their dropships and fighters closed with the jumpships and dropships carrying the equipment. Rather than attempting to capture them the ComGuard's ships simply fired full broadsides into the transport dropships and jumpships to deny the equipment to the WOB and their allies.

With the destruction of the target the ComGuard's warships fell back and jumped out as quickly as they came. All 3 heavy ships had taken moderate damage and a number of dropships and fighters had been lost but all the ComGuard's warships jumped out. The Word of Blake ships had all taken heavy damage, with the WoBS Herald of Retribution almost an air bleeding wreck. The DCA warships on guard duty had little to no chance to engage the ComGuards ships - and given that they were unsure as the the current state of affairs between the Dragon and Comstar were unlikely to have done so even if they had the opportunity. More worrying even than the loss of the convoy for the WOB was the fact that the detailed shipping plan had clearly been leaked to Comstar - they had known the dates, times and jump point the convoy was intending to use... Worse Hohiro Kurita who was still on Terra informed them that since the shipment had never been received by the DCMS they would be expected to make up the losses...

Following this battle however the various ComGuard's units and personnel within the Combine began to evacuate. Shutting down HPG's and sabotaging them as they went. Slowly at first but with growing rapidity entire sectors of the Draconis Combine suffered communication blackouts as the WOB rushed into the realm to take over the HPG network. Often then having to send for replacement parts for the sabotaged generators. A number of brief and brutal firefights erupted between ComGuard troops evacuating the planets and either DCMS forces attempting to prevent them shutting down the HPG or WOB forces rushing in... Most of the Dieron District and large chunks of the Benjamin District remained online, but the Galedon and Pesht Districts both suffered major communication disruption.

Do the WoB even have the numbers needed to man all the HPGs in the DC or the funding to repair, take over and secure them?

Not even close if ComStar did their interdiction drills exactly as planned. Although I’m a bit bewildered at how exactly they would evacuate all these planets without hundreds of jump ships just waiting around in the Combine for evacuation orders.

In any event, it’ll take months for enough WOB personnel to even get to the Combine to even LOOK at the HPGs! Jumpship travel times being what they are and the sheer number of planets they need to get to! Let alone assessing the damage and getting the HPGs up and running.

ComStar also just shot themselves in the foot in terms of revenue from the Combine (otoh at least in a small way they now have all the League March contracts to partially make up for it) meaning problems there...

But still! I mean holy hell, I never would have expected Dow to act this decisively and viciously- good for him!

With an effective interdiction now in place, the Federated Suns has a golden chance to zip across the border and defang the DCMS. Not so much targeting planets but units. Take out a dozen of the DCMSs best regiments and isolated warship units while they have no idea what is going on, plus one or two choice planets (INDEPENDENCE WEAPONRY MUST BECOME ONE!) with concentrated force hard and fast? And you’ll render the threat of Theodore moot for at least a decade. Then can swing around on the WOB.

"began to evacuate" - key word "began". :p The ComGuards/Comstar aren't getting out of the Combine anytime soon. But they are heading for the door - and smashing the lights behind them. As far as Comstar is concerned when the Dragon signed on to get WOB battlemechs and help - they aligned with the enemy. Why wait for them to kick them out of the HPG stations? Better to go out on your own terms.

All done to a badass sound track I imagine but seriously Teddy shot himself in both feet with this move and so did the WoB since they blew away almost all their agents early on in this timeline with their stupid reprisal for Caph. It actually made C* both get their act together and strengthen internal security while crippling the WoB ability to spy on their hated rival.

man can not wait for the update.  to bad the DC just did not keep pumping WoB for weapons.  they could get real good at deep space recovery.  as long as ComStar did not use nuks?  a lot of that cargo could be recovered... not all but I would think that each small craft class ship could recover one mech/tank/aerofighter per 8 hour shift.

looks like comstar needs the Vikings and Beowulfs the FRR should be making for them.  it also gives them place to run to from DC military.

And now the dice is cast. Teddy has no choice but to remain with the WoB now. He will see that he has doomed his Nation to be the tools of madmen and he can do nothing about it.

I am surprised that the Sian Republic didn't send forces to help out the unit that rebelled? If they had sent forces then the green troops sent to take the world back probably would have failed.

My biggest surprise is that Victor actually signed a ceasefire with the Andurien Commonality. I honestly am confused as to why?

Signing a treaty with Sian and then a ceasefire with the Victoria Commonality makes sense. The first is willing to concede defeat and on good terms to Victor. The later is too much hassle to finish off right now and could be a pain if it starts raiding at the wrong time. But has a somewhat stable chunk of the CapCon AND knows not to piss off the Federated Suns dragon.

But Baxter?!

To hell with that! It's not like they are any kind of threat to the League March at all - and if Baxter did try to raid or attack he has to know it would just provide Victor all the legitimacy he needs to smile and finish THEM off. It would also make it clear that the Federated Suns does not in any way concede that the 'Andurien Commonality' is in any way a legit state, that Victor still backs the Anduriens in exile, which is a powerful message. That he sees Baxter as simply an overgrown war criminal he'll get around to dealing with sooner rather than later.
There is not really any reason for a ceasefire because Baxter doesn't even have enough forces to hold his worlds by brutal force, let alone go looking for trouble. Baxter not getting a ceasefire would be like Griff in Back to the Future 2 when he drags his dad outside, then pauses, pops his head back in, points at Marty and shouts 'DON'T GO ANYWHERE McFLY, YOU'RE NEXT!' to make it very clear Bad Things are going to happen very soon and that he needs to seriously think about his future.

But, you know, Victor...

Most likely the cease-fire was only put in place to bring at least one of three to the table. And to allow the redistribution of forces to more important fronts. Baxter is not a threat and neither is Victoria so they can be left alone for now while the FedSuns builds up more and gets ready for the fight with the Combine. Plus the more Baxter and Victoria waste fighting each other and the Sian Republic the easier it will be when the FedSuns come back in force to kick Baxter and his dog into the ground then keep stomping on them. And Victoria as well they simply don't have any way to survive. If Victoria joins the MoC that is their only hope of sticking around but even then it is only a temporary reprieve. Victor will be going after the MoC eventually. Preferably after a few years of building up the other Periphery states in the Rimwards section.

3069 - December - On the edge

As ever December starts with the AFFS forming it's new regiments, regimental combat teams and light combat teams up from the graduating classes of new cadets while also cycling through the next generation of academy graduates into the various training units and cadres. Meanwhile huge amounts of military equipment already stockpiled for this activation of new units is also broken out of storage and issued to the new forces.

The first and most prestigious of these new formations is the 4th Federated Suns Armoured Cavalry which is formed on Robinson. Formed not from graduating cadets it is instead formed from individual companies drawn from some of the finest units in the AFFS and is rated from it's inception as a veteran unit - although it won't be able to fight in anything over company strength at anything better than regular status until it's various component's have finished integrating into the new command. Like all FSAC formations it's equipment is the finest that the Federated Sun's can provide - with pride of place going to a full battalion of assault battlemech's drawn from Robinson's own factories - 2 companies of the by now renowned Sagittairre and a final company of Battlemasters. This gives the 4th FSAC a heavier weight than it's sister units, particularly when other heavy and assault designs from the rest of the Draconis March are included in its Table of Equipment. While this will make it slower than a traditional Armoured Cavalry unit, it's planned that it will be the assault unit of the brigade moving forward.

The Ceti Hussar's Brigade also see's a fourth unit added to it's rolls with the creation of the 4th Ceti Hussars RCT. Drawn largely from the 2 new academies on Lexington and Tancredi it's almost the polar opposite of the 4th FSAC in that it is a light weighted unit across both it's vehicle and battlemech assets. The various Combat Commands of the RCT are almost organised as semi-LCT's due to the cadets experience with that model of organisation. It is decided to form the new unit on Bremond alongside the Bremond DMM as a reserve formation in the event of war with the Combine.

Within the Islamabad Combat Region a game of almost musical chairs erupts as units are divided, rebuilt and formed. The Islamabad CrMM officially separates into 3 portions - with the largest 2 sections being used to found the 1st and 2nd Messengers of Shiva LCT's, while the remainder along with new cadets is used to rebuild the Islamabad CrMM back up to strength. Both Messengers of Shiva formations are initially deployed to Islamabad, although the 1st is soon dispatched to Panpour. At the same time the 2nd and 3rd Avalon Hussar's break of part of their formations to form the 6th and 7th Avalon Borderer's LCT's which are deployed to Panpour and Islamabad respectively. The 2nd and 3rd Avalon Hussars then deploy to the Pirates Haven Cluster for a concentrated sweep of that nightmarish morass of systems which is the home to dozens of pirate bands. At the same time with odds and ends the AFFS also forms an 8th Avalon Borderer's LCT on Basantapur. As soon as the new units have had time to integrate the plan is for the Messenger's of Shiva to deploy to a more active front along with the 2 Avalon Hussar RCT's while the 3 Avalon Borderer LCT's and the Islamabad CrMM maintain the defence of the Combat Region.

The 1st Bell and 1st Brockton Borderer regiments are also activated during December from their cadre status. Although both units are only at half of their official strength it is felt that they are now sufficiently large enough to form an effective unit while they continue to build up and that they can now participate in patrols against pirates in the case of the Brockton unit or any pro-Capellan insurgencies on the part of the Bell Borderer's. The Borderer Brigade also see's the formation of a number of new cadres - the 1st Claxton, 1st Hurik, 1st Jasmine and 1st Preston Borderer Cadres are all added to the rolls of the Brigade in preparation for their formations. Although each will consist of only 2 companies of battlemechs and similar sized supporting formations until they can begin receiving troops from the training units on their worlds. From 2 individual regiments the Borderer Brigade now includes no less than 14 active or cadre units within it's command structure.

The 1st Syrtis Hussars LCT is joined by a sister unit and the former independent command is now the flagship of a new Capellan March brigade. The 1st Hussars transfers to garrison the key world of Novaya Zemlya while the newly formed 2nd Syrtis Hussars LCT takes it's place on New Syrtis. In this way Duke Hasek is mirroring the High Commands formation of Dragonlords commands.

Another addition to the AFFS was the upgrading of the 36th Avalon Hussars to a reinforced regiment. This is in keeping with the program of slowly building up the entire Avalon Hussars Brigade to reinforced regiments of battlemechs. Only the 14th, 23rd, 26th and 28th remain standard regiments while they rebuild. In a similar policy the 2nd Lexington Combat Guards is also upgraded to a reinforced regiment at this time - giving a clear sign that the entire brigade is likely to be upgraded to a similar level given that the 1st is already a reinforced regiment.

In addition to all of these regular additions to the AFFS a number of additional training units are formed this December. The 4th and 5th NAIS Cadre's are founded with the expanded graduation classes from New Avalon. Similarly the 3rd Albion Cadre is formed from New Avalon's oldest academy. The 4th NAIS Cadre is dispatched to garrison Shawnee, while it's sister regiment is dispatched to Cerulean to free up the 5th Avalon Hussars RCT to deploy to join it's sister 14th Hussars on Woodbine. The 3rd Albion Cadre is controversially deployed to Delos IV as a counter to any Raven adventurism.

The Kilbourne and Point Barrow Academy Training Battalion's are also upgraded to full regiments this month. Much of the equipment for these 2 units is drawn from equipment discarded by more prestigious commands, but even this is often refitted and upgraded equipment and more than a few brand new battlemech's such as the Sentry, Watchman and Battle Hawk class machines are found in the expanded units.

Wolf's Dragoons also reforms their Beta Regiment in December. They have a mix of their own troops and "war orphans" including a large number of CCAF survivors. The unit is immedietly signed on by the FedSun's and assigned to garrison Outreach.

Even as the High Command reinforces damaged units and creating new ones the 7th Crucis Lancers RCT, 1st Federated Suns Armoured Cavalry and Wolf's Dragoon's Zeta Battalion appear over Elgin. Making no efforts to communicate or demand the surrender of the capital of the Free Tikonov Province the 3 commands proceed to land outside of the planetary capital of Sochalladan. In a display of elan and spirit the Tikonov Marshal's attempt to charge from the city to contest the landings. This spirited counter attack is shattered when Zeta Battalion lands directly behind and on top of the charging Marshal's. Their retreat cut off and their lines disrupted the green troops stand absolutely no chance when 2 of the finest regiments in the entire Inner Sphere close in on them and cut them to pieces. With the garrison shattered and the local militia's falling over themselves to surrender the AFFS units and their mercenary allies close in on the palace of the Supreme Leader William Baranov. To nobody's surprise the leader of the Free Provinces has used the massacre of his guard unit to take the opportunity to flee. However the attached air wings of the 7th Crucis Lancers have maintained an iron tight blockade of the planet and so he cannot have gone far.

While the 7th proceeds to garrison the planet, Zeta Battalion begin the search for the hiding Supreme Leader. The first place Zeta look "on a hunch" is the local HPG station which is manned by the WOB. When the Word of Blake garrison of infantry and a few tanks attempts to deny them access the Zeta's kill them all in a few short minutes of brutal fighting. At which time by pure coincidence a contingent of Comstar adepts arrive along with a small force of ComGuards to return the HPG to full service. The 7th Crucis Lancers also rounds up the various local leaders of the Free Tikonov Province and within a few weeks they have all agreed that the entire province should join the Federated Suns. Contingents of the 1st FSAC are shifted to take control of the other worlds of the province quickly.

Even as the hunt continues a number of AFFS specialised infantry formations arrive at the end of the month to arrange the integration of the "Free Province" into the Federated Sun's League March. When the Free Worlds League Ambassador to the Federated Sun's demands an audience with the First Prince it is quickly granted. Half way through his ranting tirade of the invasion of a sovereign nation by the "jackbooted thugs of House Davion" he is told to simply be quite or be ejected not only from the palace but also the planet and realm. In a cold and cutting tone the First Prince informs the ambassador that he and his realm were warned. Multiple times. Their response was meaningless platitudes or pretend the problem didn't even exist. Very well. The First Prince had given them every chance to stop the "Free Tikonov Terrorists" who had launched an invasion of his realm from Free Worlds soil without the slightest action to prevent it or condemn it by the various League leaders. If the League could not police itself then it then forced him to do it for them. He then took the opportunity to inform the ambassador that he had just received a petition to join the Federated Suns by the Zion Province. In front of the ambassador he signed his acceptance of their request and informed the shocked diplomat that the League had 1 week to evacuate their troops and officials from the FedSun's planets of the former League Provinces of Zion and Free Tikonov or the AFFS would be forced to remove them from the Zion PDZ of the League March of the Federated Suns...

By the end of the month the "Free Tikonov Province" and "Zion Province" had been accepted into the FedSuns and the 39th Avalon Hussars RCT was moving from nearby Gan Sing to secure Zion against any FWLM attempt to prevent the secession and absorption into the Federated Suns. The new Zion PDZ was formally placed under the command of the Duchess of St Ives on the 31st of December.

The First Princes's emissaries meet with the Clan Nova Cat leadership in a dead system within the Combine. In a frank (and treasonous to any Kurita who could have listened in) discussion the Nova Cats explain exactly what they have been asked to do. In response Princes's Champion Ardan Sortek informs them that the First Prince accepts that they are caught between a rock and a hard place. He will not hold it against them if they do end up fighting his troops and will order all of his forces to conduct any fights between Clan Nova Cat and AFFS personnel in an honourable fashion. However if war break out then the AFFS will unleash it's full might upon the Combine and any allies it has. He suggests that the Clan consider their position and points out that should they seek aid from the FedSuns in relocating their people this will be given. Clan Sun Jaguar's Star Colonel Inamma speaks out about the honourable way in which the First Prince has treated her own Clan - even while admitting she has no great love for the man following his treatment of Trent. She promises that the Sun Jaguars have not forgotten the aid that the Nova Cats have given them and that they stand ready to help their Clan brethren move as well - offering the services of the Potemkin class CSJ Steve Showers and the locations of a number of virgin colony worlds on the FedSun's Periphery Border... Sortek informs the Nova Cats that his First Prince is prepared to help them settle worlds in this region and to grant them the exact same rights as his current Clan Sun Jaguar allies - up to and including associated membership of the Federated Suns as valued allies...

The FSS Daring finishes it's repairs and rejoins the 2nd Destroyer Squadron as it's flagship just before Christmas. It's place is taken at Panpour by the FSS Ozawa and FSS Lothair, 2 lightly damaged Fox I corvettes which will also be upgraded during their repairs. At Arcadia the FSS Churchill finishes it's repairs and leaves to rejoin the 1st Patrol Squadron. The CSJ Rebirth moves to Arcadia to be not only returned to full functionality and repaired but also upgraded.

At Capella the FSS Trickery and FSS Trickster slip out from the system and head for their rendezvous with the FSS Covenant... The yards behind them begin work on 2 Fox II corvettes officially...

On Novaya Zemlya the new Dagger-O line for Johnston Industries completes. This brings the total of the popular omnifighter lines to 3 on the world. Jalastar Aerospace also adds a line for the Sparrowhawk fighter at their flagship plant on Panpour bringing the total production lines for the light fighter to 6 on Panpour alone.

Ranger Battlemech's on Verde add their second line of battlemech production with the construction of their Warhammer line. Like their existing line of Shadow Hawks these battlemech's will be used to equip the Vegan Rangers first and the sales of excess machines will also go to rebuilding the mercenary troops of the Duke of Verde.

The new facility on Achernar see's the first of its Battle Armour production facilities begin production of the Cavalier suit. This production is currently at a trickle but as more production facilities go online and hit their stride it is expected that the new facility will produce a flood of new Cavalier and Infiltrator II suits for the League March and wider Federated Suns.

Meanwhile on Capella the St Ives Metals Industries rebuilds a single functional line of the Defiance-O omnifighter. Sabotage in the last days of the fighting had destroyed the complex for the top secret pride of the CCAF's aerospace wings and it had taken until now to put it back into even limited production. Plans are to test out the first production models before order large scale production.

On St Ives the new flagship production facility of St Ives Metals is finally repaired and upgraded. For now production is limited to 1 Blackjack-O, 1 Blackjack, 1 Phoenix Hawk battlemech lines and 1 Po line vehicle line. However plans are in place to expand production once the newly rebuild facility hits it's stride.

On Valois the Sun Jaguar's begin construction of their new Warhawk production line. This isn't expected to go into operation until mid 3071 but when it does it will be a huge boost to the Clan's production facilities!

The First Prince enjoyed his first Christmas with his new son and wife on New Avalon, knowing that the clouds of war were forming. His last act of official business before leaving the office to spend some time with his family was to sign an order for Loren Jaffray to be returned to Northwind as he had now recovered sufficiently to travel. It would be up to the Clan Elders what happened to him.

In the Draconis Combine the Warlord of Dieron found his authority usurped when Kanrei Hohiro Kurita and took command of the District - which was the single part of the Combine which was not suffering major communication problems. Warlord Isoroku took the change in as good grace as was possible and placed himself under the young Kanrei's command, effectively raising himself up to the Kanrei's deputy. With the Dieron Military District and elements of the Benjamin Military District under his direct command Hohiro ordered his troops to stand ready to receive new allies in their fight against the hated Davions. He dispatched word to Luthien that he was coordinating with the WOB and that communication would soon be restored...

Even as the word went out to accept their presence the WOB was spreading throughout the Combine. Troops and adepts rushed from world to world to secure the HPG compounds - and often found them shattered wrecks from sabotage. In the few cases where they caught Comstar forces which had not managed to withdraw the fighting was brutal and often destroyed the very HPG stations they were attempting to seize. Replacement parts and entire generators were ordered rushed from Terra but it was soon apparent that not even the worst case projections of the takeover by the WOB were even close to the damage that the ComGuards were inflicting on the HPG network within the Combine...

Within the Free Worlds League word of the Davion "invasion" of the Zion and Tikonov Provinces was met with furious condemnation - and little else. Oriente knew that to antagonise the Davion's was to invite disaster, while the other governments were too far away from the border to do anything but spout fiery rhetoric. Still export sanctions were imposed by almost all of the various provinces and governments on military exports to the FedSuns - which 10 years ago would have been crippling but now did little more than amuse most Davion commentators. A handful of units found themselves short spare parts due to these sanctions for League produced equipment, but most simply traded in the degraded battlemechs, tanks and fighters for "proper Davion" equipment... Attempts to call in the huge debts that the FedSun's still owed the League (which would have been more damaging) floundered when the various government's argued as to whom the debts were due too!

One final thing within the League was that the various intelligence agencies began to notice was the large scale withdrawal of WOB forces from their various deployments throughout the League. Small numbers remained behind to guard key sites and to give the illusion of strength, but the forces were a shadow of their former strength...

Yay! Good to see this back!

So. Victor is gonna Victor I suppose? A retaliation strike against Elgin is both justified and makes perfect sense (and I have no idea who this so-called 'ambassador' was from the FWL, I'm guessing all the real diplomats went home when the FWL broke to pieces and this was an anti-Davion janitor left at the embassy who shrugged and took the hat) but taking over Zion? REALLY? When you're already bitching to ComStar about how stretched you are and how you cannot possibly go against the WOB with the Combine threat ... you start a pissing contest with the FWL by *outright annexing* part of the FWL??!!

Yeah, sounds legit for Victor. He should have let his wife take point on this, she has far more credit to speak to such things after all given who she is and could have spun it as a far more anti-WOB move and Zion getting fed up with being used as a punching bag by her former Fathers pet crazies. Or something. Still, whats done is done. Zion is going to need protection ASAP though - happily, Victor is probably the only House Lord right now who can just shrug and throw a half dozen regiments of free Battlemechs at them to stand up into new units with a snap of his fingers...

Strategically, I'm very surprised that Victor is still cycling Fox's into shipyards for upgrades right now, given that war is about to break out. Seems like very bad timing to have warships out of service rather than massing. Damaged warships of course it makes sense that you might as well do the upgrades if it doesn't really add on any more time, but otherwise...
The 4th FSAC is also ... weird. Because it looks nothing like an armored cavalry regiment. Which is just bizarre because there are now a great many very very effective fast heavies and excellent mediums (including key Omnimechs that could allow maximum tactical flexibility) in production now to build such a unit around. One that would pretty much be the realization of Ian Davions vision of with new technology being able to hit both fast AND hard. Instead of a lot of Assault Mechs, which would be a powerful unit, but you might as well make a 2nd Davion Assault Guards in that case...

Still, I'm sure they'll find some use in the coming war!

I also really hope ComStar and the Federated Suns are making contingency plans to protect their own HPGs. There is literally nothing stopping the Combine from targeting them off the bat to try and even the odds now. And in all honestly, they HAVE to if they are going to have any chance against the Federated Suns going forward. Good to see though that ComStars sabotage was pretty damn complete in most cases to the point that the WOB are going to need years, if not a decade, to try and rebuild the network in the Combine. It's not just the parts, its also the highly skilled labor needed, the time for ships to move them and  the stuff around ... the logistics are nightmarish. Although the Combine DOES have Black Boxes so they will retain some level of strategic coordination above pony express ships, its still going to be horrifically bad if the Federated Suns unleashes heavy warship supported raiding forces into the 'black' zones. Going for the Combines half a dozen key industrial nodes...
And the WOB themselves might unleash ROM and the Milita to start raiding and hitting key HPG nodes in the Federated Suns for that matter. I feel that we are tipping over a slippery slope here...

As for the FWL going crazy, well, they are in the short term not really a threat given that there are stuck in a four way stare down, with Peter still squatting on their border to boot. Although Connie might start to get very worried about the WOB withdrawing their forces...
But just for kicks, I'd suggest Victor should keep paying the FWL repayments from the Clan War into an escrow account with ComStar and loudly say as much. Announcing that as soon as the FWL can indeed come to an agreement who the money should go to, he'll be happy to repay it (I find it highly unlikely that the Clan War era repayment loans have any kind of legal 'call in the debt NOW' mechanism, at least not without taking a massive haircut) at once. Get everyone arguing even more and looking greedily at that pot of gold - until they completely forget WHY they are calling in the loan in the first place :D

In fairness - Victor probably should have turned down Zion's request to join the FedSuns. Still that would have been a hard sell for a man who probably at this stage does see himself as something if a liberator. As well as a hard sell to the AFFS/man on the street who's just seen him curbstomp the entire CCAF. Plus for now he's put a single Avalon Hussar RCT into Zion. A veteran RCT granted with top end equipment but it's not like he doesn't have a fair number of those hanging around...

The Fox thing - I agree and disagree. On the one hand: yes, having those ships available now if war breaks out is a Good Thing. But although he knows war is hovering on the horizon, he can't be sure when it will break out. Squeezing in a few extra upgrades is worth some risk. Plus the PR/morals of sending men and women out to fight in what you KNOW is a flawed design that you could upgrade isn't going to sit well with the Warrior Prince.

The 4th FSAC - was mostly me trying not to make every single FSAC a carbon copy "cavalry" unit. Emphasising the "armoured" part of their name. Although as  a small spoiler the unit is quickly going to end up as a heavy cav rather than assault cav unit.

The Combines going to be a bit split in the war. The majority in effective HPG blackout stumbling around using black boxes and jumpships, struggling to respond, with a smaller part under Hohiro's command that will rely on their "allies" and will be much more aggressive/responsive.

Provisionally (VERY) I have the WOB currently at 30-35 Militia Divisions, 5 Shadow Divisions and around 10 Protectorate Divisions that are little more than planetary militia.

man love the update!!!!  I wonder what the WD are going to build next...I would suggest getting with one of the other builders and bringing the Lion or maybe the Confederation back into production.  they can get other mechs, tanks, and fighters from other suppliers.

Would the Wobbies have any portable HPG's like the SL had, or will they just have to rebuild everything from scratch.

I thought that the portable HPG's were shorter ranged than class A and Class B stations.

Build more Blackjack-O lines and upgrade all the remaining Blackjack lines to the omni-mech version. Refit the Blackjacks already in service or replace them with the Omni-mech and sell off the normal Blackjacks to the smaller powers that need more Battlemechs. Also more Centurion lines for another well rounded medium mech. Maybe start designing that Omni-mech version they discussed a few years back. Looks like the Black Lion class is getting its upgrade and then the new Battlecruiser can start production to give the FSN a greater amount tactical flexibility.
Fun quest that need more people:

Skywalker For Senator (Star Wars) - Q, Star Wars: Beyond the Republic, We Stand Against the Stars (Gundam/Macross) Crossover, Mobile Suit Gundam: Divided Federation (Civ Quest), The Lords of Ruin -- Battletech/Killzone Crossover, Star War Moff Quest: Lost in Space

Yes and also generate good will with such battlemech redistribution, it could also be used to cover “merc units” send Davion troops but not called AFFS to fight and learn how others would fight

Just food for thought: you have like a bajillion (I know over exaggerating) Borderers, Reinforced Training Battalions and Training Cadre’s of the same planets IE: Jasmine, Preston, Hurik. I would maybe cut some of those down: combining them together, accidents, Pirate raids, WoB raids, etc because keeping track of six training units for the same planet is going to be hell. That plus the expanded cadres of the already existing school (NAIS, Albion, Lexington) means you might have more Training Regiments that the WoB has actual regiments (again over exaggerating).

Just my two cents on that part...

Also I forget if this was mentioned but I know some of us wanted to see stats for those new Warships. Their are a couple people on the Fan Creations who could definitely help out there if need be.

Don’t forget in Saint Ives about Kuan-Yin (I forget if she died in this AU), Quintus Allard-Liao (MIA again IIRC), Deidre Lear (I missed what happened to her), Quintus Allard, the Kell Hounds now that I think about it (which have little to do with Saint Ives), and maybe Rubinsky’s Renegades (Captain Maxophilia Rubinsky’s merc unit).

Also a couple years off but if you’re looking for ideas Field Manual and TRO 3085? More two cents.

Keep up the excellent work: I always love the TO&E posts personally, But I’m weird.
