Creature Traits: Which book?
« on: 20 March 2011, 04:27:38 »
Hey gang,
I may have missed the creatures traits descriptions during my search tonight.  Neither A Time of War nor Handbook: Major Periphery States contained descriptions of  the creatures traits.  Any pointers to page numbers or books appreciated.  Creature skills were found.

Example:

Terror

I remember seeing them in an earlier book dealing with the RPG, though I can't, perhaps Lostech or the more recent version of Mechwarrior Companion
Commandant Otto Maurus, ARWH-1Z ArcHammer, Maurus' Minutemen
Captain Obadiah Sykes, OSR-5FCR Ostroc, Second Filtvelt Citizens Militia

Fanpro 10975 Classic BattleTech: Companion has plenty of creatures.

Terror is listed

The stats are CBT:RGP/MW3 rpg version which AToW replaces.

I was going to say check Amazon but I did. I sure as heck are unwilling to pay what those idiots are asking http://www.amazon.com/Classic-Battletech-Companion-Fanpro/dp/3890649750/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1301079570&sr=8-2  $120 for a new copy  #P  they must be insane.

Maybe a different online retailer or call around to some local stores to see if they still have some they didn't sell. Could also check used book dealers too.

Does anyone have any guidelines or suggestions for creature creation in A Time of War?

I've been using the stats in Major Periphery Powers but changing the names.  My group just had to fight a "terror bear" which used the stats of a giant lizard.

Knowing what the traits do, would be fantastic.

Yes - while not a huge feature of Battletech for me, there are times when a creature goes a long way to making a new world seem new.

I tried to create giant crab creatures in my PBeM, and can't say that determining how to do their shells was easy or left me with a confident feeling.

The effect in play was totally worth the effort, though!
