So, running a campaign for Operation Revival, I needed to have some more Combat Vehicles, particularly I wanted some lighter tanks to support my Pattons.

So I grabbed 2 pairs of Goblins.  As I prepared the list for the latest scenario, I noted that the Goblins had an LRM version.  With the Rocket Launchers I didn't use from the latest Goliath, I decided to make a pair of Goblins (LRM).

The full set:

The "normal" Goblin models from IWM infantry support vehicle model:

And my "upgraded" Goblins (LRM):

I could definitely use a smaller model saw, and some green stuff, but it does work out in looking like a ramshackle field modification.

Not counting designs that use massed one-shot weapons like rocket launchers, is there anything that comes close to the alpha strike overheat level of the B?  Off the top of my head, the worst I can think of is the Kodiak, which hits 30 on an alpha if both streak pods connect.

Worth mentioning, the D benefits from Streak on the LRMs helping with the heat curve.  With 14 doubles you have 10 from the ER MLs, another 10 for the RACs on optimal ROF, 2 from movement, possibly one from AMS to put you at 23 before the LRMs.  One LRM locks and you're at +0-1, if both lock you're at +6-7 but you've also done at least 40 damage to your target.  If your hit numbers are 7+, you're 50-50 to gain any heat at all.  Worse numbers and you're less likely to have any heat issues at all.

It's worth noting that crit starved as well as has lower engine rating to ship most of its stock heat sink within the engine, not only crit starved. For heavier mechs, sometimes it's better to push the engine rating far more than ideal weight to buy more internal heat sink capacity. But for light mechs sometimes it's not so easy.

Still CHS is only useful on very, very specific situation over DHS, makes it usually neglectable. You better forget about it for good, until when you face the situation that you really, really needs to even consider CHS for a very weird reason.

I am going to disagree on both of these one BT really doesn't hit isn't own to you play on some larger size playing areas.  Then a lot of units that don't in little battlefields start making sense.   Two artillrey is actually quit fun to use on the battlefield.  Would I use it on a 1X1 map game no.   But honstly I would rather not play than play on such a small playing area.

The funny thing is on 1x1 map the artillery would see its uses mostly, although it also causes massive amount of friendly fire meanwhile. Well it is unlikely to have a debate for the uses of 1x1 map on here. To me 1x1 isn't something even playable unless all the units both players will play is the infantry.

The size of the map is not my concern on here, though. Did you think that the size means the size of the map? Then it's sorry for that's not I want to mean - it's the size of the unit, the level of formation on each force. Perhaps a lance of armor would be playable, but I doubt for the battalion of those.

Well, TAG guided ammunition does exists thats an another topic, right? For it needs the actual hit of TAG, of the ground/aerospace units on there. Also as I know no TAG guided ammunitions have the blast radius of 1 or more.

BattleMechs / Re: Thug IIC (KISS principle at work)

I like the addition of the LAMS, but the Thug is based on simplicity. It's not a Clan 'mech with all the overwhelming power that comes with it, but it's a tough upgrade that uses Clantech effectively.

I live in Florida. We have a handful of good days every month in the summer to prime, and then maybe like a good 3 or 4 all winter. Spring and Fall are write-offs if you spray prime, because it is just always too humid to do so. This is why I have switched completely to brush on primers. Understand that it being too dry can also cause issues, as the primer is drying before it hits the model. Too hot and too cold also impact how the primer goes onto the miniatures. So, if you live in area with wild weather variations(Florida in the US, the city of Melbourne in the Australia that experiences all 4 seasons in a single day), spray primers are just a waste.

I don't have these kinds of difficulties. I spray prime and dullcoat outside all year round. I just check that the humidity is 60 or below first. Even in summer, it gets that low most days. Tuesday was our first day of rain for almost two months. Before that, it was entire weeks of humidity down into the 20s.

Dick Rutan just passed away, age 85, with more accomplishments in aeronautics than one could poke an aileron at. But let's try a few ...

I'd like to know the story about how this 'mech got canonized.  I don't believe any other unit from a third party source has ever been canonized.

That depends on how you see Battletechnolgy, because many of those units are in BT now.

I'm curious how far north you have to be for autumn to be that bad. At least in the notoriously-always-raining-UK (more true in the last couple of years that it's been for a while), it's not been that difficult to find a day to spray/varnish even in winter (at least in the midlands), so it's never been a concern I've had to think about seriously. (Hell, for my Dad (previous to retirement, anyway) wargaming always had emphasis more when he couldn't go out for a bike ride and whatnot in autumn/winter.) Sure, winter I can see if you are in a place where you get regular snow (we don't anymore), so like, Canada and Alaska and such I suppose must have the issue and by extension some of the north US. Scotland maybe? I genuniely am curious.
