Epsilon Erdiani Platinum Mine Raid
« on: 21 May 2016, 19:23:46 »
Oct 7, 3063.

It is the interim of a planetary ceasefire on Epsilon Eridani. The Duchy of Small has launched an ambitious invasion to take the system into its fold, only to have the Word of Blake step in and stop hostilities.

A platinum mine on the east coast has been showing a marked uptick in both production and profitability in the last week and a half. Out of nowhere, a six mech bay Confederate class dropship lands nearby and disgorges its cargo. Several mechs, disguised and their IFF tags changed, make way for the facility. In an odd twist of fate, they find themselves vying against a second set of raiders. As it turns out, banditry is good business in war zones... enough to make it competitive.

The two sides march on towards the light defenses, hashing out a deal to split the plunder...

The mysterious 'red raiders' are the first to take fire from the defenses:

Meanwhile, the mercs secretly carrying out Duchy raids maneuver for positions in the hills around the facility:

Once in position, they begin slinging small volleys of indirect fire at the defenders

mostly though, their long range support proves ineffective.

As the raiders closed the noose, the battle intensified on all sides.

In the end, the mercs surrounded the defensive commander. Facing the end of his career, the stubborn merc refused to yield his second defeat on Epsilon Eridani. A bloody end followed.

All that was left to do was split the spoils.
