Triangular Building Free Papercraft
« on: 23 July 2019, 14:18:55 »
I've been trying my hand at creating a paper craft, this is my first attempt:

https://battletech.nl/assets/papercraft/tririse.pdf

The triangular shape is not an accident, printed at 100%, it will fill 3 hexes on a standard hexmap (1.5" peek-to-peek).

And some quick bonus buildings (not specifically hex aligned):

https://battletech.nl/assets/papercraft/cube.pdf
https://battletech.nl/assets/papercraft/hex.pdf
https://battletech.nl/assets/papercraft/round.pdf (fiddly to build)

To make this a bit more sturdy, you can glue extra pieces of card to inside of the walls, ceiling and floor, but be mindful of the glueing areas when doing so.
Glueing a small metal washer to the floor is probably a good idea to keep the building from wandering around on the table :)

As per usual, please let me know if you end up printing/using this, preferably with some photos...

Very nice!

Out of curiosity, why the angled roof? That seems hazardous for minis belonging to roof-hopping enthusiasts.

I just updated the file with some minor improvements.

I thought the sloped roof made the building much more interesting looking...

Also, papercrafts aren't the best buildings to "jump" onto to begin with, let alone with metal models. Having the slooped roof will hopefully prevent folks from even trying :)

Give up a possible tactical advantage? You must be new here. I mean 'Mechs have knees, surely they can handle a sloped angle. ;)

And they can always say the metal mini's tonnage exceeded the construction factor of the building. Destroyable terrain is something BattleTech has lacked-until now.

Awesome thanks!

I see you gave one of my buildings even it's own parking lot!

Nice! Looks like the Flatiron Building.

And it never occurred to me to build parking lot hexes. Now I'm slapping myself in the forehead and asking "Why? Why didn't you think of that?"

And I just added another building (round). This one will be fiddly to build.

I also did a minor update to the original TriRise, so it'll render properly in PDF.js (Firefox), caused by overlapping transparencies.
