Wonder Woman 1984 experience- no spoilers please!
« on: 28 December 2020, 12:19:48 »
NO SPOILERS ABOUT THE MOVIE CONTENT/PLOT PLEASE
[/size]

With the option to watch in theaters or at home through HBO Max I was wondering if anyone did either . . . I wanted to go to the theater to get out and other reasons while the wife wanted to sub for 1 month on HBO Max (through Hulu?) so we could kick back at home and watch it.  I also think she wanted to run through Game of Thrones again.

Did anyone take advantage of either option?

Planning on seeing it in theaters when I get paid at the New Year.  I don't have any of the streaming services except Amazon Prime.

I watched it at home this weekend on HBO Max.

a) It was good
b) It definitely had its share of the usual Marvel action scenes that would have been better in a theater, but it also had a good storyline that was enjoyable at home. More like Black Panther than some of the Avenger movies in that sense.

So, you could probably have a good experience either way. Hope that helps!

Going tomorrow.

My FLT is doing reserved seats, with social distancing lockouts, and I'm hitting the earliest show.

Wish me luck...

In the UK for me.

Good film...enjoyable.
Not perfect...few films are...and WW would be slightly better but it is a very worthy sequel. I liked it.

There's been a fair amount of dislike but a lot of what people complain about seems nonsensical to me...supposed plotholes that the film answers for example

Last I'd heard Warner Bros had said that they were only going to release it on HBOMax and not give it a theatrical release.  Guess they decided against that.

Ok, went to see it in the theater. Was an enjoyable movie, but some of the major points tend to hit close to home in some ways.

Some scenes are likely better in the theater, but should still be enjoyable on the small screen. Be sure to stick through part of the credits for a mid-credits scene.

So DC films are now doing the mid/end credits stingers....

Why not?  They've tried copying everything else about Marvel films.

Shazam already had two of them (IIRC) in its credits.

ActionWife signed up for HBOMax just to watch WW84.

It was okay. Not as good as the first, but Pedro Pascale was pretty fun to watch. To be completely honest, we’ve gotten more entertainment from watching the old school Wonder Woman tv series.

Stay through the credits, though. Totally worth it for that one scene alone.

There was just the one scene part way through the credits, right? Or was there another after the credits fully ended?

I'll admit, I found one of the subplots to be quite unimpressive.

My wife, who is a comic book expert and collector, very much enjoyed the movie.

I, who like a good story, action and pretty ladies, also enjoyed it :)

Okay I have seen it, and well..

there was a major plotpoint that I felt they should have done without.

I thought Schlock Mercenary's review was pretty spot on.  There were things that were AWESOME, and others that were, "eh, what?".

Watched it as well.  The experience for me was a let down compared to the first WW movie, which me and the missus both enjoyed.  Not a terrible movie, just not as gripping as the first.

I felt it did too much undermining of its own themes (which the first one did as well).  It was fun while actually watching it, but upon having the chance to actually stop and think about it it becomes a much weaker story.

I think that was Tayler's (from Schlock) exact response, really...
