Field Manual: Mercenaries and A Time of War
« on: 22 May 2012, 07:48:38 »
Hi folks,

I noticed in the Battletech Field Manual: Mercenaries book that there were stats for the Classic Battletech RPG.
Am I correct in assuming that these are not at all compatible with A Time of War?

Thanks.

I don't have FM:Mercs but I do know some traits have not changed a bit since CBT:RPG and most of the others are not terribly difficult to figure out how to translate.

IIRC there is going to be rules in the ATOW Companion for converting Mechwarrior 3rd ed/ Classic Battletech RPG characters to ATOW so the FM:Mercs should still be useful then.

Awesome. Thanks for the info.

I read somewhere that A Time of War had been "redesigned from the ground up" from the Classic Battletech RPG, so I assumed they were not going to be compatible at all.

Conversions of the characters themselves is indeed still going to be a bit tricky and certain game mechanics have been significantly overhauled but conversion of what traits do for the character are actually pretty straight forward to convert.
