On numerous occasions on these forums we've had the "Whats your favorite unit of Great House X?" discussion.

Now that FM: SLDF and the Liberation of Terra books are out. What is your favorite SLDF Division of that era, and why?

I'm going to chip in with my own answer once I finalize an answer. I have a short list going. :)

Only have eyes for the 331st Royal... however I do give credit when due: the 146th Royal put out some impressive warriors too.

Toss up between the 151st, for staying to defend what they fought for. The 13th Royal Infantry Division, the 21st Royal Jump Infantry Divison or all of the Royal CAAN divisions.

I'm torn between the 328th(all Stalkers, all the time, baby. 8)), or the 261st(Trireme Division).

First Army, X Corps, 7TH Royal Battlemech Division because I like the world they are named after.
Plus I get Pillagers, lovely Pillagers.

16th Army, XI Corps, 3rd Regimental Combat Team

Technically they are not a Division, but the unit has a long and proud history.

Probably a tie between the 146th Royal and 328th Royal BattleMech Divisions, with an honorable mention for the 151st Royal BMD for staying behind to protect Terra from the Houses on ComStar's behalf.

While I'm partial to the 349th Royal BattleMech Division (The King Henry Division) - I get to chose which Henry depending upon which mood I'm in - and the 341st Royal BattleMech Division (The Black Prince Division), I have to give the nod to the 309th Royal BattleMech Division (The Black Charger Division). The original Black Charger Tank Division was an elite unit all the way back to the early 25th century when it was in HAF service, notably holding Terra Firma for two months against overwhelming CCAF forces, which included naval support, during the Capellan's invasion of the Hegemony in 2409.

While the CAANs aren't division sized, I am also fond of the 29th Royal CAAN Regiment, as it was one that I used in a few RPG and BT campaigns way back in the day.

I'm surprised there hasn't been any love for the 3rd RCT. At any rate, they'd be my submission as favorite.

For something that didn't make it beyond the Star League era, I'd go with the 192nd Jump Division "Angels of Orleans". Probably for no more reason than for the very uncanonical, yet somehow appropriate, way you can use Sisters of Battle minis to represent its units.

We all play up at Games Plus in Mt. Prospect. Catalyst demo agent GreyWolfActual had some sweet Division patches made up with the Chicago flag replacing the standard starts with Cameron Stars. It looks pretty sweet. I still need to get it stitched on my jacket, though.

I've been kind of hooked on this era lately. Something about going from the 3050s-3060s to 3145 made me feel like the universe is stuck in an endless loop where history perhaps doesn't repeat itself but it certainly does rhyme and feels like a general "more of the same" that has deflated my interest a little.

In light of that, the Star League era (Reunification War, Amaris Coup) have been a great departure from that for me lately. I catch myself picking up these books more and more and rereading them.

316th Royal BattleMech Division as you have to love the Gunslingers ;)

However, I have a soft spot for the 213th BattleMech Divison. AeroSpace Fighters versus ground targets is kind of my thing. Afterall, Mechs can't fight if someone doesn't get them a clear landing zone :D
