Title: VTOL/flying vehicles flight bases and stems
Post by: whiteshadowzo on 20 June 2017, 00:00:48
Do flying vehicles include a flight stand and base for the stem in the blister? Specifically, I'm looking at vtols and not aerospace.

If they don't, which bases and stems work best?

Also how do you store them? Can you glue the stem to the vehicle and just slip it in the base and remove for storage?

They come with bases and stems.

My advice would be to go ahead and glue everything together. If you must make it removable, I would glue the stem to the base instead of the VTOL. The base just isn't deep enough to properly hold the mini up loose, it'd be falling out all the time. Either way, you're probably going to have issues with the VTOL spinning on the base, unless you replace the stem with square tubing.

All but 1 of the vtol minis have standard flight bases. The Ripper has the hover nub

I keep an extra stock of large flight bases (http://ironwindmetals.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=272_321&products_id=3990) and use the extra thick wire (http://ironwindmetals.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=272_323&products_id=3996). The regular wire that usually comes with the VTOLs I've purchased in the past was too flimsy for my taste. Fitting took a little drilling with a pin vice and a 1/16" bit
