BattleTech Long Island II
« on: 13 May 2018, 10:03:05 »
On to new things

“Quick get into the buggy.”
“But it does not have room for all of us.”
“Look, get you and your sisters in the buggy and get out of here.”
“Dad, we can’t go without you and mom.”
“Your mother and I will take the truck and head off to the west. You go south.”
“But the truck is not as fast as the buggy.”
“Don’t you think we know this? Look the only may word of what happened here is if you and your sisters get out. Your sand buggy is the fastest thing we have and as long as you kids are safe your mother and I will be happy.”
“Dad …. I don’t know if I can do this.”
“Son, you have to. Get this disc to the Governor so she knows what is going. I know you can do this. Go to the hunting cabin we still have food and fuel stored in it. With them you will make it to the next town.”

“The girls are in the buggy.”
“Thank you dear. I need you to start the truck.”
“Yes honey.”
“Look we are out of time get going and keep your sisters safe.”
“Yes father”

“Sir I have a truck moving at high speed out of town.”
“Get your APC moving and intercept them. I want them alive you understand me.”
“Yes Sir! Alright men get into the PC, move.”

“Well it is working they are after us not the kids.”
“That was the plan so best not to screw it up now. Hang on.”
“Do you think they will get the news of what happened out?”
“He will get out. He is one of the best buggy drivers I have seen.”

“That guy driving that truck is good.”
“We are closing but he keeps switching back on us.”
“You just keep your eyes on them trees. We hit one and it is you butt that will be in fire.”
“If he gets any closer to them that truck will be green not white.”

“Dear if you wanted the truck green why did you not paint it green.”
“What dear you do not like natural camo on the truck.”

“It looks like they are having trouble. They are slowing.”
“OK, stay sharp. We know that he can drive so play it safe.”

“Why are we slowing down?’
“That last dip. Must have hit something we are running out of fuel.”

“They have stopped.”
“Pull up behind them.”
“Security team. When that ramps hits the ground I want you out.”
“Ramp down, Team out.”
“You in the truck. Get out and put your hands in the air.”

“Well I guess we should do what they want.”

“Command this is Captain Byrde I have a vehicle moving towards Moro at hi-speed.”
“Command to Captain Byrde can you intercept?”
“Negative command it is moving too fast.”
“Roger that Captain. Can you track it?”
“Roger that command. We can track it, but it will get to Moro before we can.”
‘Understood Captain. Keep track of it.”
“OK ladies and gentleman we need to keep that vehicle on sensors. Full combat speed.”

“Commander what do you have?’
“Sir we have a small vehicle heading to Moro at very hi-speed. We have Captain Bryde and his recon platoon tracking it.”
“Then have Captain Bryde intercept it.”
“Sir he can not.”
“What?! He has the fastest ground unit we have.”
“Sir it is moving too fast for his unit to overtake.”
“Do we have any units in Moro?”
“We do sir but they do not have any fire power.”
“What unit is in Moro that is not armed?”
“The Medevac flight sir. They are still in the area after the landslide.”
“Well if that is all we have. Inform the flight leader of what is going on and see if he can intercept or divert that vehicle.”
“Roger that sir.”

“Nejiro command to Mercy Flight. Come in Mercy Flight.”
“Mercy Flight to Command we read 5 by 5.”
“Command to Mercy we have a small vehicle moving in on your Poz. We need you to intercept or divert it.”
“Command we are a medevac and have no weapons other than our personal ones.”
“We are well aware of that Mercy. We have a recon platoon tracking it but it is moving too fast for them intercept before it would get to Moro.”
“Roger Command we will do what we can.”
“When you get airborne contact Captain Bryde his unit is the one tracking it.”

“OK people we have a small vehicle heading our way and we are the only unit in the area so we get to go and play tag with it.”
“This is going to be fun. What are we going to do when we intercept it, throw rocks?”
“We are here to protect the people if you don’t like your orders then you can ask for a discharge, Otherwise get in to your bird.”
“Lt we are all here for the same reason but just what are we a medevac flight going to do if this thing is armed?
“We are going to do what we can, that is what we are going to do. Now get in to the birds!”

“Nejiro Command To Captain Bryde, Mercy Flight is moving from Moro to help you intercept your track.”
“Roger command Mercy moving to intercept.”
“Bryde to team we have help inbound. Mercy Flight in moving to intercept our track.”
“Sir, how is a Medevac Bird going to be of help?”
“I have no idea what they are going to do. I do know that we are going to be as close as we can to help if this gets loud.”
“Yes sir.”

“Mercy Flight to Captain Bryde. Do you read?”
“Bryde to Mercy I read you.”
“We are outbound from Moro has your track changed course?”
“Negative, Mercy still heading straight in.”
“Roger that.”
“So Lt what is your plan?”
“I have no idea at this time. It is all up to the driver of the vehicle.”
“Understood Mercy, May the Dragon bring you luck.”

“Lt I have a dust cloud to port.”
“I have it sergeant.”
“That guy is moving!”
“Wow, now I see why the ground pounders could not intercept him.”
“So what is the plan Lt?”
"Well first let’s see just what we have here. Sergeant I want you to make a low hi-speed pass to ID just what it is. Then things will get fun.”
‘Roger Lt, dropping down for a quick look.”

“How are you two doing?”
“OK, do you think Mom and Dad got away too?”
“If anyone can Dad did.”
“How much longer to Moro?”
“Well as long as I don’t brake something maybe an hour.”
“Good I need to get out soon.”
“OK sis I’ll stop when we get to some cover.”
“Thanks. All the bumps you know. ”
“Told you not to drink all that water.”
“Ya, Ya I know … look out!!”
“What the …”
“Wow that guy was moving fast and way too low.”

“Mercy 2 to Lt. Sir it’s a sand scorcher.”
“Roger Two. Was it packing?”
“Checking the scan now sir. Negative. It has three people on board.”
“OK flight this is what we are going to do. Two you take the Starbord and it will take Port. We are going to force them to stop with our prop wash.”
“Roger that Lt.”

seems like something really bad is going down if the parents needed to sacrifice themselves to get their kids out of wherever they were.

is the landslide the story speaks of the one that happened by my base?

if so my base can easily be used to protect the family (or at least provide a way station due to the water and bumps situation lol)

looking forward to the net part of the story

“Lt I don’t think you plan is going to work. When that guy opens that thing all the way he is faster than us.”
“I see that Sergeant. If it was not for the terrain he would be getting away from us. OK new plan. Low passes to get him to turn to Captain Bryde’s platoon.”
“Sergeant you are to make the next pass to get him to change course and I will move for the next. Then you setup for the one after that and we keep that pattern.”
“Roger that Lt. Going for the first pass.”

“Watch out they are coming back.”
“I see that sis. They just will not stop.”

“OK Lt it is working.”
“Good keep at it.”
“Mercy flight to Captain Bryde, we have you sand scorcher moving back to you. They do not have any weapons going by our scans.”
“Roger that Mercy.”
“Bryde to platoon spread out Mercy got them to turn back.”
“Roger Sir.”
“OK people we want them alive so do not fire. That is a civilian vehicle. Just force them to stop.”
“Sir how are we going to do that?”
“By putting your vehicle in front of them.”
“And if they drive around us?”
“Then you move to keep them from getting away.”
“Yes sir.”

“They got us going back the way we came.”
“Not good if they get us we can’t get word to the governor.”
“Look something is coming our way.”
“I see it. Time to play chicken.”

“Sir I have the buggy heading right for me.”
“Well force it to stop.”
“And if he wants to ram me?”
“You are in the heaver vehicle; somehow I think the buggy will not win that one.”
“Yes sir but the people inside sure will not be so happy with that.”
“Somehow I do not see this one running in to you.”
“Number 3 stand ready.”
“Sir?”
“As I told 4 I do not see the driver ramming him but making a hard turn at the last second.”
“Yes sir, move to make it a harder turn.”
“You have it. With luck we will box him in.”
“Or he will flip it.”
“I hope not this guy has shown real good control of that thing so far. But”
“Captain Bryde to Mercy, stay on station. We may need you soon.”
“Mercy to Bryde roger that. Good Luck.”

“Not Good.”
“What is wrong big bro.”
“They have more help. Look.”
“Wow four of them.”
“Guys look that one is not moving out of the way.”
“Ya not good.”
“Hay is that not a gold phoenix on them?”
“What?”
“Look at the one to the right.”
“Hay you are right, they are part of the security force.”
“So stop they can help us.”

“Captain Bryde to Command. We have the buggy and its crew.”
“Command to Bryde Roger that. What is your sitrep.”
“Command it was kids in the buggy. They are from a small settlement a few hundred klicks from Zakharovic Fortress. The settlement was taken by people in military field uniforms. All the people were rounded up and taken away. The parents of these three provided a distraction for them to get away.”
“Roger that Captain. Stand by.”

“Someone get a hold of Firebird now!”

“Command to Captain Bryde. You are to get the children to Moro. Have you unit and Mercy re-fuel and stand by.”
“Roger command moving to Moro.”

“OK people we are ordered to Moro to re-fuel and stand by. Mercy you are to join us.”
“Mercy to Bryde roger that, moving to Moro.”
“Son you did a great job. You sure know how to drive that buggy of yours.”
“Thanks, my dad and mom are they going to be OK?”
“I do not know son, but we will do everything we can.”
“I understand.”
“So you and your sisters mount up and follow us to Moro. We will get you a place to stay.”
“Thanks.”

OK so now on to the fun part
All commands are to prep a recon force to go to the location of the settlement.
Each command will deploy four (4) units. One (1) Mech, One (1) Vehicle, One (1) Infantry and One (1) of your choice.
The OZ will be scattered woods with a small river and the settlement.
Time to earn your C-Bills

"Attention, Ironborn.  This is Col. Greyjoy.  Recon Force to deploy to the settlement as follows:  Capt. Botley will deploy in "Black Lorren".  Sgt. Maj. Wynch, Sgt. Maj. Kenning, get your Regulators to supply fast-moving, hard-hitting support.  Finally, Alpha Platoon will move out with the Blizzard."

"Botley here.  We'll be ready within the hour."

"Very good, Captain.  Greyjoy out."

a few questions of the governer
1.  what is the propose of the recon, are we looking for raiders? or is the settlement "up to something" and we are trying to find out what the settlement is doing?

2. if we find civilians in distress can we to have a pre arranged point to bring them to where an evac can take place , which i know will be hard to do with recon unit, cause a recon unit is really supposed to look and report back but they may be able to pull it off if we arrange it ahead of time

ok my recon unit will be
Locust
Javelin
alpha karnov - with charlie and delta I.S grey death scout armor and Bravo I.S jump infantry
Pegasus scout hovercraft

and it was not mentioned but if it will be allowed but if a ready five unit is allowed mine will be

you have been told to prep for a recon mission of the area the settlement is in. We want intel on what is going on in that area.

You can setup an evac zone.

you have them but only the machines. you will need to move personal around for them to take part in the mission.
I need to know so I know who gets credit for the mission.

The Piranha pilot is the MechWarrior who came from the MoC under a cloud.  I still need to make a name for her.  My original Hussar pilot is back in her ride and reconning for information.
As for the Pegasus crew, I had techs in it during the crisis.  I'd like to cross-train my Saladin crew on the Pegasus.  I'm also putting out a call for a replacement crew for the Pegasus on MercNet.

OK. You did gibe her a name. I find it when I get home

That will work as she was in a light before so her numbers will be the same.

OK will keep this in mind. We will have to talk about what she has found out.

That works out good. The vehicles have similar performance profiles so they will not have lower numbers. They will just have to get use to the idea of 360 of fire not just in front.

Will work on what crews are on the look out for new gigs.

i am still trying to find a pilot via mercnet but for this mission i realize the ride will be working at a disadvantage but i thought it still might be helpful to field it so i will ask my piranha pilot to field it with assurances that it is just temporary and he is not being taken out of his normal ride

(i was going to use my tarantula pilot but i thought going from 4 to 2 legs would be to difficult for her  :-\)

Anthony, I've been wondering.  Did the governor listen to Euron's idea to open a MechWarrior school on Nejiro?  If so, how did she react to it?

Second, Euron has started talking to his tank commanders (Master Sgt. Saltcliffe and Sgt. Majs. Codd, Wynch and Kenning) if they had any family members who had their pilot's wings to fly the Hawk Moth.  I'm also looking over the big four families again for a permanent pilot for the Falcon Hawk.

Third, can I roll to repair the damage to Hammer Bravo (it still needs a new head) and the Bravo Regulator (just armor damage to the front) before the game Sunday or is it still too early to do that?

Lastly, I've decided that my incoming 'Mech is going to be the Wraith.  I don't have a fast moving scout 'Mech in my unit and I'd like to fix that, otherwise my 'Mechs are always going to get left in the dust by whatever they face.

Dave

The governor approves of your forward thinking, but she believes that at this time Nejiro does not have the resources or infrastructure to support a formal MechWarrior school.

*! Priority Secured Transmission !*

An unknown number of unidentified assailants have abducted the populace of Abaza at gunpoint {gps coordinates, a small settlement in the southeast territorial holdings of the Zakharovich Shuyona, population 273}

Track the assailants back to where they are holding the civilians, determine their health and safety; identify the assailants numbers and resources; report your plan of action for the safe retrieval of the civilians and what additional resources might be needed to accomplish the mission objective.

The assailants appear to be professional infantry in black military tactical gear and had at least six hover APC's; Maxims and Blizzards have been positively identified from surveillance footage. The current hypothesis is that they are Kokuryu-kai.
It is suspected the populace was targeted for the retired DCMS personnel living in the settlement, several were from a prominent combat engineering unit deployed on Luthien during the Clan Wars.

the attached intelligence packet includes a current list of the missing townspeople and their picture ID's, with the former DCMS personnel highlighted, stills and video from Abaza, tactical and strategic maps of a 1300 sq. km area in and around Abaza, a list of available resources {logistic, police, medical, military} and their expected time for deployment [including but not limited to: local guides and trackers, at least one CROW team, infiltration and retrieval teams, hostage negotiators, Strategic Response Units]

the personnel and equipment were attached to your unit, they are wherever you assigned them
