Kitbashing the Basilisk Q
« on: 28 March 2018, 01:48:05 »
Since it's deeply unlikely that IWM will ever come out with a mini for the Basilisk Q.

Do you think that it's possible to kitbash a Basilisk Q from the Procyon Q, given enough green stuff?

The Procyon looks a bit more beefy and the Basilisk more sleek and angular. I would need to remove the Procyon missile launchers and sculpt a Basilisk head, tail and missile launcher.

What do you think?

I'd like to see a comparison shot of a Shedu battle armor mini vs a standard Basilisk, because it looks a lot like the quad version.

MWDA Fenrir are where it's at. Hack off the turret and replace it with something else(or leave it off entirely if doing a B-Q-2), scratchbuild the head out of bits of styrene, and for the tail find some sprues of chain meant for rpg figures(i used a set from Reaper), you're golden. I've only finished one of the trio I've got planned, I'll try and get a picture taken sometime.

Finally got the thing photographed!

Note: the chain but I used for the tail is nowhere near strong enough to survive handling, it can barely support its own weight. As such, the tail is actually a length of large paperclip glued into a hole, bent to a nice-looking curve, and clipped to the right length. The chain bit was then glued to the paperclip, so the whole thing is nice and durable.

Not bad! Is this the Fenrir kitbash you were talking about? Can't wait to see it painted!

Yup, that's the Fenrir. Only mods were to hack off the turret, and to pop off the clicky base and mount it on a styrene hex. The head was the hardest part, that's a lot of really tiny bits of styrene. It's why I've put off doing the other two of that Un for now.

For the head could you start with a bigger block of styrene and file it into the correct shape?

Nice!  EDIT: Nevermind I consulted the artwork.  Nevertheless it looks good
(I was about to make a comparison (NOT visually) to Wolf from Metal Gear Rising and the Basilisk Protomech how it reminds me of the character)
(Come to think of other Protomechss, the Procyon reminds me of Zuul :P  (Even though Zuul's a dog)

Does anyone know if the Procyon Q is a one-piece mini or are those guns separate pieces?

Does anyone know how many pieces the Procyon Q is? Is it one piece or several?

Those guns are separate pieces.
