Recommend me: Table extender/overlay
« on: 04 August 2018, 12:48:46 »
Folks,
My dining room table is 34" wide, which is nice, but many games (such as Warhammer or Battletech) are typically based on a 4' wide table. Most maps fit together best with 4' width.

Can anyone recommend me a table overlay I can purchase which is sufficiently stiff to play a game on despite the table overhang (and without bowing in the middle if stuff is placed on the overhang), but also folds away nicely, and is of good quality?

Bonus points for one that can do 4'x6' with extensions for 4'x8'.

I found this on Amazon which looks promising:
https://www.amazon.com/TABLE-Premium-EXTENSIONS-included-Maximum/dp/B077NC9K4S/

Has anyone used one? Are there other products out there I should look into?

Many thanks!

You could always just buy a 4x8 sheet of decent quality plywood and cut it to your needs.
Battletech: A game of which factions turn it is in the gnard smacking chair.

I'd go for 1/4" ABX plywood... if you want something that looks nicer, you're going be paying quite a bit more.  I use a 4'x8' sheet of 1/8th inch plexiglass on my 3'x8' table, but it really needs a sheet of plywood under it to prevent flexing.
