IWM and Ral Partha
« on: 11 June 2020, 08:07:40 »
Hi,

I was hoping someone at IWM can answer this.

What is the relationship between IWM and Ral Partha Europe?

Why does Ral Partha Europe no have a full range of BattleTech products?

Can IWM/Catalyst look at official distribution/licensing beyond the US?

Thanks

IWM licenses BT minis rights from TOPPS; I assume RPE does the same.

IWM produces their own molds, as part of their costs. It's my understanding that, once upon a time, IWM and RPE had an arrangement where each would share master molds (or just master minis?) for minis they produced that the other did not. RPE stopped doing that, so that arrangement stopped, so RPE didn't have anything new after that point unless they molded it themselves.

From what I’ve heard every month or so they send a cut to IWM from mechs sold. But the molds are old and don’t get replaced. Not that I’ve had any issues. Probably why they are a bit cheaper.

It’s a shame as RPE are really nice. They sent me an arm for a Crab after I snapped mine.

Even if it was just a case of being able to order IWM mechs through RPE, that would be ace.

That would have been an interesting sight as it passed through the x-ray scanner.

And I'm sure an interesting discussion with Customs too...

I remember RP Europe had specific variants too.  Miss those.

How so, you can transport X value of items- couple hundred, I do not remember- in your baggage without a problem.  Duty free stores actually encourage it . . .

The duty free stuff I bought on my last trip was sealed in a clear plastic bag, and closely scrutinized by customs...

That's why you make friends/contacts overseas!

I managed to get one Man in England some various Reaper CAV bits (when Reaper had their Scrapyard), because shipping to the UK was/is INSANE!   :o  He managed to help me get 7 or 8 of the RPE/MFUK minis I had on my List to Complete my Collection.
To me, Repros are 100% Wrong, and there's NO  room for me to give ground on this subject. I'm not just an Immovable Object on this, I'm THE Immovable Object. 3D Prints are just 3D Repros.

I ordered a fair amount of stuff from RPE when the archive fee was was in effect. The shipping was actually quite reasonable.
