Well wondering if the one I posted is correct, or not, as I have seen a different one also.

I didn´t check for errata, but this doesn´t match the table from AToW hardcover.

I'm not aware of any aging table errata for the print version of AToW.  What's your source, if I may?

Mine is the one in the AToW pdf

I´m in with Xotl. Try as I might, I can´t find that errata for the print version.

Besides that, if the age table from the op is the "real" one, than there´s something wrong with it. Yes, just ageing your charakter to the mid thirties is/was a huge stat boost, but with the reduced stats and same stat penalty at later ages, something doesn´t work out for me.

I'm looking at my PDF of A Time of War.  I cannot find a version # in it. However, I appear to have redownloaded it around 11/17/10 if that helps any.

The print version is the most up to date, and matches the most recent pdf.

Any errata for either is in the AToW errata thread, so if you have what you think is errata and it's not there, you're almost certainly looking at an old version (probably the beta pdf).  Anyone who legitimately paid for the beta should have the latest version.

Does not jive with either hardcover or PDF to my memory
. Age 21 was a category in which IS people got right away
but Clanners had to wait for 3 game years to get .

OK, this has been asked and answered in the "Rules Questions" forum.

The chart in the book is correct. Which PDF are you using?
The Aging Table is one of the things we changed. As a result of the beta test, if I remember correctly.

Paul

The posted chart is the correct one.

So here's a somewhat related question...

We've been told that life expectancy in the Inner Sphere has progressed quite a bit (assuming of course you're not say, a House Lord). JHS Terra suggests that middle age ends around 110, with families being started in the 70's and 80's, and most people dying around 150.

Obviously not all of the Inner Sphere is that advanced medically/technically to push the ages to that point, but does the aging chart seem to take the extended life span into account at all, or does it still seem based on the idea that a century of life is the end point?

It seems to be a little extended from RL, but not to the same extent as JHS would imply. Perhaps doubling the age brackets from about the 41 stage may solve this for, say, Star League era games.

Maybe a "Longevity" Trait could be added in where the negative penalties of aging were cut in half including the negative traits. i.e. -150 to slow learner at 61 with another -150 at 71, and so on.

Would that be appropriate to represent people who are the product of the genetic tampering that the Star League did?

I've had to add another trait to solve that in my house rules.  I called it Aging.  The jist was that as you got older you started acquiring more negative flexible XP than positive and it got harder to raise attributes.  At what age each level of effect took place at was determined by the Aging trait.  So say -5 and you'd be lucky to make it past 50 while +5 you could reasonably expect to see 200.  With the added benefit of I do understand things you do, places you live, and things you are exposed to can alter that I have no trouble with someone adjusting the trait on the fly if there is a good reason for it.  I may have to add some clarification on the attributes part but for the most part if it does change after character creation my decree is that only thing that changes is from this point forward.
