The reason I went for a normal HGR and not an iHGR is three-fold. First is that it's a stealth vehicle designed to be an ambusher. Second is linked to the first in that you aren't likely going to start shooting due to being hidden, until almost into your medium range, or well into it. And the last reason is linked to the second, in that an iHGR only does 22 no matter what range and has slightly less range as well. With the original HGR I get a slightly increased range and anyone unlucky enough to decide to advance on it will get slammed by 10% more damage once its close enough.

The dual magshots are mostly there to hold off BA/Infantry, which tank destroyers have massive troubles with, long enough for this to withdraw to another position faster then they can keep up..
I love my Wiesel XII. Yes, yes I do.

I know I've used this on the table --- I think I might have posted it once too ---- although I get my fix playing Flames of War, over World of Tanks......LOL
I've been threatened with bodily harm, if I consider using HGR's ever again.....LOL

Advancing is actually a pretty good idea since you have your optimal spot only between 4 and 6 hexes, which is pretty much ridiculously tight. once within the minmum range, fast units can also simply flank it, rendering the HGR useless. An iHGR is always an improvement over the HGR when the fighting is done on the ground and not in space.
