Is there a list as to how some the clanner words came about?  Batchall battle challenge AFF affirmative etc etc

Not as such, no. If you read through the various sourcebooks, short stories, and novels you can find the source behind many, but not all, of the Clan terms.

I guess I am really thinking about "Solahma".  But the only thing that might make sense is Soldiers Home or Old soldier's home with the Canadian phrase of "eh" at the end.
