Debut of the Mad Cat
« on: 16 March 2020, 10:48:49 »
Hello,

I found two slightly conflicting accounts about the debut of the Timber Wolf. I was wondering if we could get clarification:
1. TRO:3050U, p. 136, "Mad Cat: Deployment", begins, "Clan Wolf introduced the [Timber Wolf] in 2945 to help replace the aging Woodsman OmniMech. Debuting with the Fourth Wolf Guard, the [Timber Wolf] was a nasty surprise for the Sea Foxes..."
2. FM:CC, p. 136, "Clan Wolf: The Golden Century", states, "... Clan Smoke Jaguar made a prolonged and determined effort to win Elemental technology from Clan Wolf, even though they could have won it from easier targets by the time they launched their bid. ... near the end, [the Wolves] offered [Clan Smoke Jaguar] a contest it seemed they could not lose... at odds greatly favoring the Jaguar Clan. This battle... marked... the debut of the highly successful Timber Wolf design. ..."

The idea Clan Smoke Jaguar had not successfully taken battle armor until after 2945 seems far-fetched, but it is characterful. It also would be a good start to the story of the Timber Wolf.

So which entry is right? Thanks!
