Never used them in Battletech, but in the Clicky game they don't die. The Steiner ones from Annihilation are nasty when dropped from a transport unit. I think they have the reflective armor gear, which makes them immune to energy weapons. 8 attack and 2 armor piercing on a non-unique battle armor is good for formation fire and capture attempts.
Bannson's Raiders version had point defense and could thus pass its 19 defense, high for battle armor, along to lesser units like Combat Techs, also lowering a mech's defense for that repair attempt.
House Kurita's had gray armor and was, again, immune from energy attacks. It gained a ten attack before death, so late-game capture attempts where necessary for them.
Never really saw the Davion versions get used. It was basically the Steiner one but it had reactive armor instead of reflective.
From Vanguard, the Liao version was lackluster. Which, being a design from a nearby realm, you'd think it'd been a little bit better.
Wolf Hunters Ravagers where just another example of WizKids favoritism towards the any faction with "Wolf" in the name. 10" range over 8" of every other Ravager and improved targeting to prime it to its armor piercing.
Rasalhauge Dominion Ravagers, when dropped from fast transports, need to be killed or avoided at all costs. If they are in transports, kill the transports. They keep 18 defense through the dial and half of it is grey armor, again, immune to energy attacks.
Steiner got another Ravager in Vanguard, and these things are deployment zone guards or support pieces. Every Steiner army around here has at least a three man formation of them.
