My current character carries chocolates -He is a professional 'Mech pilot, not a footsoldier. His fighting ends when he leaves his 'Mech and his ransom is worth making him a comfortable prisoner.
Hope he doesn't become a bondsman then.
Or captured by the DCM during the 4th SW
"Sir, we captured a Fed Rat Mechwarrior."
"...I don't see a House warrior, I see a mercenary."
"Wha....oh yeah, can I use my sword sir? I hardly get a chance like this."
"After what he did to our friends, swing a way."

He is DCMS, and, IIRC a cadre training officer.

Then he would have to worry about a similar scenario if shot down in the Draconis March where some soldiers have nothing short of hatred for DCMS.

My merc always had a stole away shotgun so he wouldn't become bayonet practice, luckily never had to use it. Evasion tactics always work the the best in the end.

Below is the minimum in an Army issue flight crew survival vest:

1 Radio Set w/Battery
2 Light, Marker Distress, w/ Battery & Flashguard
3 Mirror, Emergency Signaling
4 Whistle, Ball Plastic OD (w/lanyard)
5 Kit, Signaling
6 Fire Starter (x 2)
7 Pocket Knife/ASEK
8 Compass
9 Bag, Storage, Drinking Water 3 Pint
10 Tourniquet, Non-Pneumatic
11 Insect Repellent & Sunscreen Prep.
12 Blanket, Thermal
13 Aircrew Survival/First Aid Kit

I know the seat bottom in USAF/USN fighters goes with you in the event if an ejection, it is hollow and stores a survival kit that is in a vest or a bag with straps.  Other things that are in the kit are water, food (power bar type, M&Ms bouillon), and a small fishing kit.    The USAF used to have a small, collapsible .22 rifle as well. I can see a mech having a similar configuration.I am sure you could easily fit a submachine gun or a carbine (partiality disassembled).

With the fact that a guy could be shot out of his ride on a variety of environments based on the planet, I am sure the packing list would be modified during maintenance and pre-combat checks as well as being based on the pilot’s preferences.  I would also think that there is something similar to a pilot’s nomex flight suit in kit also.

As far a currency goes, C-Bills will work anywhere but may raise suspicion depending where you are at.

and that little wonder was called the AR7 Explorer, disassembled it all fit nicely in to it's own stock and would float in water.

Whatever Clan would gain on the deal until the character decided to leave -How many bondsmen turned Mechwarrior ever shot his captors in their backs and returned home? No, for some reason IS bondsmen join their Clan owners far too readily.
My character would play the game and master it for as long as it suited him.

Nope, not worried. I'll bank on a soldier's greed over shallow anger. As an Arkab pilot, my character displays DCMS insignia on his equipment only on rare parade and never uses any in combat.

And the chocolates are awesome.

Then we will certainly have to conquer that planet.

Nothing surprised me more that seeing the Azami had been recognized an independent faction. I could take a vacation through the Jihad rubbish and return as part of a non-House faction pilot. My GM wants me to take part in Bulldog but I really want a be part of Serpent -I want better loot.

My initial chocolates mention was, of course, a reference to George Bernard Shaw's Arms and the Man.

"Bless you, dear lady. You can always tell an old soldier by the inside of his holsters and cartridge boxes. The young ones carry pistols and cartridges; the old ones, grub."

Same here, I read "Arms and the Man" back in the 1970's. My current character was a mercenary from a wealthy family and he never had to work -His family owns a chain of hotels in an exclusive resort area on Dabih so much of his background was based upon Bluntschli from the play.

1 Sub machine gun (Styer MP-20)
4 magazines.
4 Smoke grenades

1 PLB
1 compass
6 ration bars
1 Strobe marker
5 micro flares and launcher
1 GPS
1 Military communicator
In a Go bag (assault bag)
1 Water back that holds 3 litters
1 set of utilities in a vacuum pack.
Fist aid kit: 1 tourniquet, 5 plasti flesh bandages,  1 role of gauze, 1 role of Medical tape. with 6 pill packs usually contains Ibuprofen, antibiotics, and some minor pain killer.
1 Pancho, with thermal blanket.
1 Signal mirror
1 Insect repellent/ sunscreen (yes they still issue this)
Night vision goggles.

Forgot something...

Dice! might as well stay entertained and daresay even make some money while you're stranded behind enemy lines and killing time at the local dive.  :D
