Title: TigerShark's MegaMek Icons [MW: Dominion]

Rather than posting these in Deadborder's icon page, I decided to make my own, as I'm making 'corrections' to current art and (in some cases) drawing my own. I also like to tinker with Deadborder's images, since I have a lot of the miniatures and can see some of the little grooves and rear arcs of the units.

Units with a * next to them are drawn by Deadborder, with minor modifications by myself. The rest are either taken from old MM icons and re-drawn or altered heavily.

EDIT: Fixed some shading on the BKX-7K. This is not an easy draw. Also re-uploaded the Mackie, Thug and Jackrabbit with shading fixes.

100% Deadborder draw. I simply changed the arm position and hand shape to appear more "threatening." With the Atlas II, I enlarged and emphasized the arms, darkening the shading for more "pop" with the camo. Even if the 'Mech sucks, the icons sure looks great. :) Good job, Deadborder!

I'm incorporating some of their elements into my draws. I almost never do a 100% straight draw, since some of the designs look indistinguishable from the top-down view. You have to take liberties with a few of them for it to be striking. The Hammerhands I did is an example.

I love Deadborder's work, but if someone talented, like you (or he though he expressed no interest in doing MWO), were to make a set of icons based on the MWO mechs, it would be wonderful beyond words.

I'm really only doing what will be used for our purposes, locally. If that happens to cross with MWO artwork, then it does. :) Probably not going to do all of the MWO minis, though. Just the stuff that looks better than the original art. Whitworth should be next...

Simple edits of Deadborder's image(s). Centered the image, shortened the arm by a pixel width and altered the hands. Also utilized the Primitive image because... I just wanted it that way for the server. Call it "cool factor." Kudos to Deadborder for an awesome draw.

The "base" I've been using is really just ComGuard's white camo. PhotoShop has several filters and blending effects which turn flat camo images into 3-D when layered.

This was done because I have a dislike for much of the Unseen work. When a Reseen is better, I just go with it (TDR-1C, LGB-0C, etc.). In this case, I went with the Project Phoenix draw from Deadborder and swapped them in for the PXH-1 series.

It's a vague outline of a Mech. Turns the camouflage into 3D (or closer to it )

It really doesn't fit the current aesthetic, as there are a lot of crevasses to account for and the icons are, sometimes, tiny. I compensate by eliminating hard-line borders (when possible) and using shading to define a differentiation between height. I do think the guns on this Thug are too long, so I am going to pare those down a bit. In all, it comes out a little small for its size, but still looks accurate.

I love these camo's and would add them in a second (with Tigersharks Permission of course).

There are a few challenges to completely switching them out.  Our current camos (SeeVee) are very complete and if I switch them in I lose lots of camos.  But this means I reduce the players choice, and risk breaking peoples MekHQ campaigns that use a camo I replace or remove.

The other options are are add them as a separate folder. But I add to the size of the releases, and even though the community has told us they are ok with larger releases we are trying to avoid that whenever we can.

The final option, which I do on my personal machine, is have a mix. I've replaced the SeeVee camo's with the matching one from his set. I don't mind a mix and match camo pack but some players will.

Tigershark was kind enough to explain his process for making them but unfortunately I'm not an artist, I struggle with stick figures. :)  In a perfect world I'd love to have all the camos in the SeaVee pack in this style.

I don't want to hi-jack Tigershark threads any more than this post. But if someone wants to open a separate thread I'm more than willing to discuss the options. But this assumes Tigershark is ok with us using his patterns with credit of course.
