Battle ARmor in ATOW
« on: 17 December 2011, 13:37:44 »
I remember Combat Equipment (I think) having battle armor stats scaled for MW3rd edition, but I haven't seen anything for battle armor statlines in ATOW terms anywhere.  Does anyone know where I can find this information? I want to give battle armor players a first person sort of advantage in battletech scenarios so they can feel extra useful...!

The Clans can be beaten. On the tabletop, anyway.  (Posted as Rush Maguin on the MWO forums)

There are generic conversions in AToW but I can't remember what page they were on but those MW3ed stats are still mostly usable.  Only the damage dealing stats have changed any and even then not that much.

Battle Armor has been greatly simplified for ATOW.

  • Movement conversion is covered on p167 - basically just 1 MP = 15m per 5-second combat turn.
  • Armor conversion is covered on p185-187, with a table for the BAR values on p187. Unlike MW3, there are now no differences between IS Standards, Cavaliers, Raidens and Longinus.
  • Battle Armor 'Mech-scale weapons are rather gimped as per p209-201. Some can fire only every other 5-second combat turn, & for all weapons their ATOW ranges are just their BattleTech ranges multiplied by 30, with extreme being double the medium range. That means that a machine gun's extreme range is only 120 meters, whereas the extreme range for a portable machine gun is 460m . When used against personnel, the damage for Battle Armor weapons is as per p215-216.

Except Cavaliers look cool and a patriotic while IS standards are considered kinda dorky  ;)
This is a rpg after all, not just a boardgame.

Eww. The Cavalier is so ugly it makes enemy Battle Armor troopers sterile just at the mere sight of it! It has fat thighs, a silly hat and - worst of all - it even has nipples!

The IS Standard might be plain, but there's a beauty to the simplicity and functional ultility of its design

 :D

Sillybrit, I must make war upon you.  As a House Davion AFFS member since 1989 I am presdisposed toward the graceful, well sculpted Cavalier.  Have at thee, Blakist.

*Does a Dr Zoidberg impression and scuttles out sideways.*

At least you didn't call me a Capellan or Kuritan.  ;)
